On Cutlery ...

I hunt, kill, clean, and partition the cooked turkey into pieces that rival the monthly Playboy centerfold for sheer naked beauty.

Bread is cut like butter by that knife.

Once...

...it even cut the cheese.

FB, is the smaller shun the classic utility??     If you don't mind my asking what do you find you use it for most?

yes it is. and I use it for almost everything and anything. it get's used more then any of the other's I have. I've used it for scaling fish to de-boning duck/chickens, mince a shallot like a razor, etc, etc, etc. I highly recommend one if your in the market

We use the Dexter knives quite a bit - good non slip handle, stays quite sharp and is very affordable.

Now don't laugh. (sometimes beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder as with your spouse whom you have loved for thirty years)

Top is my favorite knife - my everyday, go-to knife.  Easy to sharpen to a razor edge.  I inherited it and several similar cousins from my parents. A longer, straighter version does the turkey(when I have a broken fingernail).

The bottom two are Warther Cutlery ( http://www.warthercutlery.com/ ). They are my workhorse paring knife and my 5" serrated knife.  The serrated blade is a dream on tomatoes (when I have a broken fingernail) and I reserve it almost exclusively for that purpose.

Warther knives are made right here in town and sharpening is free for life of the knife.

btw - Check out the carving museum site for a sampling of the amazing carvings Mooney Warther did with his home-made knives.
http://www.warthers.com/carving.htm
He could not buy suitable knives for his carving so he made his own.  As other people wanted the buy his knives the cutlery business was born.

Funny. I haven't built my own for 10 yrs, but built 10's of them for the 10 years before the last 10 ...

PS - bought your knife late last night.

I'm drawn to the 3rd one down, and the 5th one down ... for whatever reason.

Good on ya ... me too ...

I use XP still for CAD work, not by choice, but by force ...

I prefer a Mac for my development machine, even though in this day and age I mostly develop against Ubuntu VM's via Docker and Vagrant etc ...

When I was cutting my burger's bun, and then the burger itself, it suddenly made a lot of sense ...

None of my other knives would work well to cut the bun, the tomato, and the resultant burger in a single item to wash - sold!

Good on ya ...

Looking good ...

I actually had only a long slicing knife, a chef's knife, and a small santoku blade ...

It was getting ridiculous having to wash them each time I wanted to use a knife, since they were almost always sitting in the dishwasher ...

Now I've added 4x knives to the equation, I'm sure it'll be MUCH better! ...
