Peter's 2015 Glog

I've started germinating a few seeds for 2015. I'm using the wet paper towel in sandwich bag method for the first time. For each seed type, I soaked the seeds in 3% hydrogen peroxide for one minute, then rinsed before putting on the paper towel. I've got all the bags in a plastic box, sitting on a germination heat mat. I put a half plastic egg carton on the bottom so they won't get too hot.

It looks like a few of the seeds have something white poking out. These are ajijoes Chocolate Hand Grenade Habanero and Pepperlover's Mustard Moruga Scorpion.

I started them on 12/19. I'm going to move any germinated seeds to cups containing Fox Farms Light Warrior. This will be the first time using this as well.

Rather significant grow list this season!  Your starts look great,
nice and healthy in your grow shelf set-up.  Nice work.

Good luck going forward.

Thanks!
Weekly update. I ordered little heater today from Lowes, going to pick up later this afternoon. I don't expect it to heat my whole basement obviously, but I think having it close to the plants will help. I'm going to try to position one of the fans to blow over it and push warm air to them. Without a heater it doesn't ever get below 60, so if I can bump it up 10 or 15 degrees that'll be awesome.

Few pics of the babies.

I started potting up a few of my bigger plants this week. Tonight I went through everything to keep/cull. I've set aside all those I'm not going to keep and will take to work to give away. I didn't mess with any that just came up, that don't have true leaves yet. But so far I think there's around 80 that I'm keeping as of now.

Here's how the roots are looking on those I potted up earlier this week.

Here are my pot-ups. I made up some fabric pots out of cheap landscape fabric for an experiment. I'm not planning on using them when I put outside, but want to compare the root systems and growth rates between those and solo cup plants. Was hoping to get away from the solo cups this year, didn't happen.

I have around 70 that I'm giving away. This will make room for the others that still need to be potted up, and will free up some time too.

The purple tinted Hab makes me regret giving away my last Peruvian seeds :tear:

Are you hoping for chocolate pods off that thing? Would be kinda neat with that dark foliage...
I'll be happy with whatever it puts out, but yeah that would be cool looking.

Thanks! And sorry you lost those seeds.

I potted up a few more today. Here's a pic of most of my keep plants, some are down below out of view.

I used up all of my FFOF before potting up the last 25 or 30. I found a local agricultural wholesaler that sells to the public and got a good price on mix materials. So I made my first ~28ish gallon batch comprised of 1 2.8 cu ft bag of Fafard 3B mix, 1 cu ft bag of manure compost and about 6 quarts of perlite. I have some 14-14-14 controlled release fertilizer (Southern Ag brand, osmocote based)  that I'm going to use as well. I mixed a small does of the ferts in the soil mix of the last 10 or 12 that I potted up for experimental comparison.

Want to give a big thanks to Wicked Mike for suggesting and helping source a wholesale place in my area. I probably saved well over 100.00 on these materials compared to a big box store like Home Depot.

Nice grow going there, buddy!  Will be interesting to see how
the fabric pots work.  I'll bet great.  Maybe have to watch the
water a bit; do they dry out quickly?
