  • Mini greenhouse is working great. May need to either prune the plants or get a taller one if the plants grow too big though.
Thinking of making my own potting mix instead of buying MG this weekend. Thinking 2 parts compost, 1 part soil and 1 part perlite, with some tomato tone and rabbit crap added in. Good option or am I missing something?

Thanks meinchoh. Already read that thread but it was a bit above my head as a beginner. Just wanted to make sure I had things right before I did it. Absolute soil noob here and have only used commercial mixes this year

Only prob with MG is one bag may be perfect, the next one full of mold spores or too high or low in ph. Usually made with low grade ingredients boosted by chemicals.

That's what I'm trying to avoid now. Went the easy route before, and got the cheapest I could get. Went with Vigoro organic for half the plants, and the one's in that mix are struggling bad. Haven't had them in it long and it's already compacted. As soon as I start watering it just sits on top and struggles to soak in.
Just ordered a mini greenhouse for my plants. Thinking that and a little heater will be much easier than carrying my plants inside and back outside all Winter.
Drawback of being a butcher-knife slips. Especially when it results in a sliced open thumb.

    MeatHead1313
Super glued it back together lol. Just a pain trying to do things while not using the thumb.

ugh. I have seen medical "super glue" first hand. good stuff. Sorry you busted up your thumb bro. My butcher puts on a chainmail glove. He's a pussy for that, but he never slices his fingers...:)

    MeatHead1313
Thanks. Yeah I've used those gloves before. Don't cut myself very often, and usually it's just a little nick on a finger. Just managed to get myself good this time. Just glad it was my knife and not the saw!
Just had my first taste of a TS Butch T and reaper. Holy crap. Those things are no joke!

Yup. two of the hottest peppers on the planet right there. What were you expecting? Hab heat level?
    MeatHead1313
    MeatHead1313
Knew they were going to be hot, just wasn't expecting them to seem so much hotter than what I'd already tried

Shrimp and flounder fillets it is! Yeah keybrdkid, they're some funky looking critters. Taste great though. Better than lobster imo
Going to try making shrimp tacos tomorrow night, so making some sweet chilli sauce to go with it

Cooking up some homemade burgers. Ground chuck seasoned with salt, Joyner's smoked thai blend powder, homemade jalapeno powder and a little garlic and onion powder. Smells freaking good!
Well plants have been brought inside for the next 2 nights. Hoping 2 days without light doesn't hurt them too much.

ditto. They should be fine if you set them near windows

    MeatHead1313
Only have 1 north facing window in that room unfortunately. Going back outside tomorrow once it warms up a bit. Really need to get some lights and something to hang the lights from.
Should not have eaten that half a douglah yesterday afternoon.

It got me goid alright romy. Soon as the heat hit when I was eating it I knew I was going to be in trouble this morning. Those things are no joke! Glad I didn't eat the whole thing lol.
Getting ready to smoke a bunch of chocolate pods while waiting for the game to start. WHO DAT!!! Now to decide whether to use them all for powder or make a smoked chocolate sauce as well.

    Who Dat! Smoke 'em up!

    MeatHead1313
Lmao Ocho Cinco! Who Dat Phil! Majority of the peppers were the scorp mutts you sent me, with a mix from boxes bought on here and from Pepperlover as well. Peppers smelled great coming off the smoke! Got most in the dehydrator now. Used a few for a sauce. My house smells awesome at the moment!
Oh yeah! Chicken done marinating and on the pit and whiskey in my glass. All ready for the football. Geaux Tigers!

    MeatHead1313
Well that game went as expected unfortunately. At least my chicken and boudin came out great.
Just found aphids on my plants again. Sprayed em all with neem oil so we'll see if that fixes the problem.
Yellow Primo is delicious! Not as hot as I was expecting, but did give me a good dose of the hiccups and a decent bit of drool lol. Awesome pepper!
    MeatHead1313
    MeatHead1313
Little bit sweeter, but didn't get as much sweetness as I've noticed from other yellow pods.
    romy6

Much sweeter Judy . The red ones just kick my ass .

Awesome peppers romy! Yellow Jonah tomorrow. Might try either the douglah or sepia serpent whole as well.
Got my sfrb from romy6 today. Got some supers in there I haven't had before. Going to taste all of them, but thinking a whole one is in order this weekend. Need help deciding which-yellow Primo, yellow Jonah, douglah or sepia serpent. Not yellow naga looks way too freaking big so not sure I want to take that 1 on lol
    romy6
    romy6
Start with the yellow Jonah and primo and work your way up the ladder:)

Just had a samll bite of each of the 4. Love the flavour of the yellow Jonah! Yellow Primo was great too. Douglah and sepia serpent seem like they're going to be absolute scorchers for me. Got a nice bit of a burn just from the small bite I had of each.

Thinking of eating the yellow Primo this afternoon. How hot would you say it is?
Had given up on some seeds I planted 10/14. Get home from work today-I now have 2 seeds sprouted! 1 Jimmy Nardello and 1 Bishop's crown. Here's hoping the rest quickly follow suit.
First white flies, then ants and aphids, now slugs and snails, then just noticed I also have fungus gnats! Mosquito dunks coming in tomorrow, going to knock these buggers out before they get too bad. On a plus note though, have a Jimmy Nardello seed sprouting!
Can coffee grounds be used to stop slugs and snails? I'm fighting a losing battle with them at the moment. Beer traps are getting some, but nowhere near enough.

Yeah diatomaceous earth indeed. Cheap and organic. Destroys slugs on contact.

Thought about the DE but read it's no good in high humidity areas. Did the salt last night as wayright suggested, worked great though the humidity here has melted it to nothing already lol.
Home from work so that means whiskey and football! WHO DAT!!! That's to be followed by firing up the pit to cook up a drunken chicken, and more whiskey!

Came out pretty damn good for a messed up first time. Got enough smoke to start with to get a good flavour, and came out nice and moist. Only problem was rubbery skin
