  • SEC College Baseball Tourney continues. LSU advances to the semifinals after defeating Arkansas 10-5 last night.
It's Thursday. Four day weekend ahead. LSU beat Auburn in their first SEC Tourney game last night. I have a clear calendar today... no meetings. My first repaer seed popped yesterday. Life is good.

First ripe habs picked and brought to work today... a Vietnamese co-worker wanted moruga salt for his lunch. I gave him a fresh hab instead. He cut it up and put it on his salad. It didn't go as well as he planned... hehehe. And first hint of color on a fatalii noticed this evening!

Well, when I went through chemo, I felt like I was on the verge of death and decided that sh!t wasn't for me... And I'm only 42. Of course, I conquered the booty all weekend, and I hurt from crawling underneath our cars all weekend, so maybe I'll change my mind by Wednesday.

Okay, I folded. It was bugging me just sitting there waiting to be done, so I changed the brakes while the chicken's smoking. Half the fckn pad was still there! Damn you, Nissan brake warning light!

Took the day off... to fix a busted radiator overflow line. Joy.

$100 for the whole radiator... 220,000 miles, and starting to nickel and dime me. Last time I replaced the windshield, though, it was like $600.... whaaaa???

I just replaced a radiator in a F250 Diesel. I think the radiator was $900+ whe whole front of the truck has to be disassembled to get to it.

Dayum! I'm hoping to avoid having to pull the whole front end off, but flipping through the Hayne's manual doesn't look promising.
I'm in the market for a new 60" ZTR mower. I have my eye on two.... a Bad Boy 747cc CZT Elite, and a Husqvarna P-ZT 60. Almost identical specs, except the Husqvarna is 810cc, 26 HP. Bad Boy is about $3,000 cheaper. What are your thoughts?
    Phil
    Phil
Agreed, Sic. Life long investment. I think I'm leaning towards the Husqvarna. More power than the Bad Boy and in my price range. I checked Kubota, and they're just a little too proud of theirs. $10K is my limit. I can get the Husqvarna for 48 months same as cash... interest free.

TECHNICALLY.... yes. But we won't discuss it and have it on written record :D
Got all of my "next year" seeds sown. Devil's tongues, reapers, nagas, 7 pot white, 7 pot chaguana, and peach bhut. The plan is to overwinter them and be ready to get a jump on the season. Grow them in the sun, so no hardening off. And I should only have to bring them in a couple of times, with our mild Louisiana winters.
Got my order from Puckerbutt today. Instead of the Red savina hab seeds I ordered, he sent reapers. No explanation... so I just planted them.

I haven't made pickled eggs in a while. Sounds like a good idea... of course, I won't have reapers until next season, I'm sure. I might have to try some with yellow morugas

Last I was at his storefront, he had a couple mid-20 something girls running things, could have been an honest mistake! Reaper isn't bad at all though, makes a great sauce!

I've decided I'm not even going to address it. I'll bet when you've grown accustomed to every other order being for the famous reaper seeds, it sort of becomes robotic in nature to just add reaper seed to every order. So I got my Nagas, got my Devil's Tongues, and Reapers instead of Savinas.... could've been worse.
Ordered some Jay's peach ghost scorpion, devil's tongues, and red savina seeds to start so I'll have some healthy OWs to start with next season.

Don't know how well they actually handle it here, but I've seen huskies nearly every time I've gone to the Lafayette Petsmart. So they're at least fairly popular down here.
Lots of yardwork yesterday. Rehung the flags that were torn down by the storm, planted cukes, put together new table and chairs/umbrella. blew, vacuumed, and mulched leaves. went to a little league baseball game yesterday evening. Came home, listened to LSU baseball and cooked a jambalaya. Got a fami;ly reunion today, then off to a friend's house to watch the fight tonight. Too bad it's not until 11:00 pm! Looking forward to a lazy Sunday!
Looking for spider lilies... lots of them.

I have a spot in my front yard along the fence line that stays particularly wet. So I'm planting a bunch of full eclipse Louisiana irises, and I want some spider lilies in there with them. The Lycoris sprengeri are a classic lilly variation, and very nice, but the tendril-like petals of the hymenocallis liriosme are just too neat. They love wet feet, as they're all over ditches down here... just not by my house!

BTW, I priced a 10' system in my local home improvement store, and they wanted $30. So I bought one on Amazon... $14 for the basic system, plus $11 for each additional 10' extension. 5 mist nozzles on each 10' section. works GREAT. 3/8" tubing. You can also buy a calcium filter for hard water that hooks right up to your garden hose.
