  • The Charles M. Fitch orchid that I ordered just came in... what's the best planting medium?

The best orchids I have seen were attached to trees. My mom years ago attached an orchid to my grandmothers tree, and it became a massively large plant, with stems of flowers coming out in all directions. Most of had at least 20 three foot long flower branches coming out from it, and it had been hit by a cold spell the previous year.

Most incredible orchid I had even seen. Once I move, I will be attaching several orchids to trees.

Amazingly enough, I was able to crash around 2 a.m. and sleep through the night. Time to fire up the grill
Just saw that my yellow moruga and fatalii OW plants are starting to load up with buds already. Sweet!

I'm going to repot one of them into a 20 gallon, just to see how it does. Probably the fatalii
I don't care what anyone says. Working for a global corporation sure does have its perks. Just saw a $3,000 contribution to my 401K for this MONTH
I think I'm going to pick up a 10 to 20 gallon pot on my way home in the morning and transplant my OW fatalii there, just to see...
While you're heading to work, I'll be heading home to have a couple of beers before bed.

love those 7AM beers, even better to walk out into the yard/garden w/ them and watch the people make assumptions while they walk their kids to school.

Sometimes I kinda miss my third shift days. Nothing like getting trashed and heckling the Sunday morning golfers on the course behind my brother's old apartment.
Got a couple dozen movies downloaded to thumb drive to pass the time.

Yeah. I'm just here as a resource. If my field guy needs some veteran knowledge, he calls me. In the meantime, I get to write repair procedures as they need them.... which isn't often. So I get to sit in my office and listen to the damned walkie all night and watch movies.

I like nights, too... especially when I'm just here as a resource... but that first night I'm usually only operating on a couple of winks of sleep. My shift is 6:00p-6:30a
Starting night shift tomorrow. Gotta try and stay up late so I can sleep tomorrow. Somebody's gonna pay for dragging me off of my gravy train. Apparently, we have some company guys who think they can bully our contract help at night. Their ass is mine.
Grandmother went to the ER with a fractured hip and uncle went in with congestive heart failure this morning... sigh... Back to grandma... what is it with old women and Xanax???

No doubt. Like I told my mom, I think that older folks are asking for it to treat depression more than sleeplessness (sleeplessness comes from the depression). And doctors are all too eager to please. I told my mom to lobby the doctor for an alternative for sleep, and to look into non-pharmaceutical means to treat the depression.

I know my mom's at the end of her rope with my grandmother... As is my aunt. My GM's depression apparently is deep enough to where she wants someone there taking care of her all the time, and with both my mom and aunt having families of their own, they just can't do it anymore. All of the money is gone after getting in-home care all last year, and they just don't know what to do. I live 2 hours away, so I can't really help out, so I'm trying to find alternatives to hel...
2nd day of spring. Thyme and basil's sprouting, Need to plant out mint, tarragon, sage, citronella and hibiscus... time to make the courtyard look alive again!

Was able to put down the weed and feed before the rain. Ah, the smell of spring is in the air; cough, cough, sneeze, sneeze.

Yep, that's how it works. I managed to planted out cherry and beefy boy tomatoes, mint, parsley, tarragon, fennel, red ruby basil, oregano, a Meyer's lemon tree, hibiscus, begonias, citronella, sowed some dill and sage seeds, watered everything in, washed all of the dirt off of the courtyard concrete..... all right before the sky opened up and poured for a good hour. And yeah, there's pollen everywhere! We saw a completely yellow bumble bee today. He'd been having a blast,...
Keep the green, just gimme a beer.

St. Patty's day reference, not a weed reference. No can do with my job. I had to quit that stuff many many moons ago.
So, apparently 2009 Toyota Corollas don't have spark plug wires. They have coils. Each coil costs $90+.... I changed all of my plugs, and found out I have at least one dead coil.... and the parts store had to order one. Looks like I have an unexpected day off tomorrow
