seeds What I have learned "condiment cups"

I found quite a few threads regarding germinating seeds in condiment cups and rather than bringing up threads from '09, '11 or older I will share some thoughts here. I started in the Rootmaker 32 and 60 cell 10x20's 12/16/22 and I was frustrated with how few seeds germinated and liked the idea...

    seeds Too late to germinate?

I have multiple pepper types that have germinated or recently popped up after planting in seed trays. Mostly cherry that I wanted focus on and one or two hatch, a random white habanero and bulgarian carrot. Most of the hatch, fatali, red savina, 7-pod, ghost, t-scorpion and others from seed I...

lighting Picture of our seed starting rack with questions...

I built this 2' x 4' seed rack last Friday and I am getting it ready for this season. One row each of 32 and 60 cell Rootmaker trays and both will be lit with the 8 tube T5 HO Amazon fixtures. I have found that it's too big for our spare bedroom and the garage is full. The last option is the...

    raised-bed First garden since 2014

I tore down my three raised beds in 2014 in preparation to move to a new place in 2015. I had no plans to garden at my new place until I retire and that is about five years out until I met a great lady last March. Gardening is her thing so I built five new raised bets, three 4x8's and two...

Hey friends, back after a long layoff and have no clue what my prior user name was. Stopped growing around 2014 and moved to a new location in 2015, built a lot of raised beds for my girlfriend and getting ready to start seeds for the spring.

seeds Why do transplanted seedlings burn in the sun?

Howdy people! Short story for the beginning of my second year growing peppers with ya'll. I have been swamped at work and I completely forgot to plant my seeds until Spring Break and that is when I should have put my transplants outside! Even after I set up my lights and stand last year...

End of the Season for SV

Howdy Pepper Friends! Sorry for not providing updates but life (family and work) really kept me busy the last few months and I fell behind harvesting pods. I did make it a point to pick the yellow peppers and Habanero's on occasion. Temperatures have been dropping down to the 50's and even...

    Tried "The Source" yesterday...

...it is advertised as 7.1 million Scoville units. I stopped in a place called the Jerky Shop or similar near Dallas yesterday. I asked the shop owner about "The Challenge" and he said the challenge was to suck the extract off 1/2 a toothpick and those who did not eat, drink or throw up or...

Plain old Orange (Red IMHO) Habanero seeds for SASE

And you are probably wondering why this crazy redneck would be offering something so bland as run of the mill, bought from the local nursery Habanero pepper seeds. I will tell you why, six freaking plants are whipping my ass every week, these plants are on OVERDRIVE, the pods are tasty, well...

harvesting How do I harvest a Tabasco?

Don't laugh, I am serious :D I tried bending the stem near the base of a yellow pod and it didn't snap so I pulled on it and snapped end of the plant off. I thought it was due to the pods not being ripe so waited until a few turned red. Same deal, they don't snap off like other peppers.

    First ripe 7 Pot/Pod with a picture

I hurried out to check the pods when I got home from work and one of the 7 Pot's was 99% yellow so I plucked it. I went to my Uncle's to share it with him and my oldest cousin. I sliced it in half and saved the seeds and then sliced the larger piece into quarters. I didn't have the balls to eat...

Curious if anyone has estimated the Scoville units of the peppers that have overtaken the Bhut and created a revised list.

Did I get lucky and grow a Bhut Jolokia???

I originally had this plant labeled as a Fatali, but Google image searches suggest otherwise, what do ya'll think? It's about 3.5" long, 3/4" in diameter and quite bumpy. I have about 5 on the plant so I am happy no matter what they are. This plant is labeled Yellow 7-Pot, yes or no? It's...

    pests Under Attack!!! Leaffooted Bugs

I found them last night after looking over the garden and they are numerous, too many to hand exterminate. Do ya'll have any suggestions to repel or kill the little bassturds??? On a good note, I saw my first Orange Hab out of several hundred on the six plants and a new Fatali. I also saw and...

chinense Confused, so 7 Pot Brain Strain is hotter than the Bhut Jolokia?

I was reading the 7 Pot tread on the growing forum and some are saying there is no comparing the heat of the 7 Pot to the Bhut, Naga or Fatali. Is this true?

Here is a picture update for anyone interested. Comments and suggestions are more than welcome. I went home for lunch and checked on the seeds, looks like the Manzano’s are starting to wake up! I know it’s hard to see the root against the paper towel but I am not using Photoshop at work for...
