Hi All

It's getting to that stage where we need to plan the next growdown.

I can supply the Aji Cito seeds, but will need to get them posted pretty quick so get voting

I also have no issue if we go with something else, but will need to order in good time as it takes ages to get to NZ

If you vote 'Something Else' post a suggested variety

Poll closes Friday 27th April

Every pod counts Bob usable or not.

Are you sure, seems wrong somehow.

How does every one else feel about that?

Pulled another 3 fruit fly stung pods off tonight. 15g. If we are going to include them then a total of 5 pods for 23g.

How are we going to keep track of who has what? Do we just keep a running total when we weigh in?

Woo Hoo!!!

My first ripe pod that hasn't been stung by a fruit fly!!

4g, that makes 11 pods for 44g.

It doesn't matter which direction you look at mine, you see this many pods. It is absolutely loaded, and they are definitely turning a lighter shade of green so they are starting to ripen. If I can keep the FF away I may even end up getting a good feed from them.

Thanks mate, most of them are nice and big.

I haven't tried a net yet but I am getting around to it. I am waiting on a big net to turn up (10m x 10m) that I should be able to fit most of my potted plants under.

Some of them are in the ground though (this Cito is one of them) and will have to build a frame of some sort to be able to net it. It is growing big and wild at the moment, must be 180cm tall and 1m wide. Will probably have to top it and trim it back.

Can you get this where you are?
Tanglefoot 300000588 8-Ounce Tangle-Trap Brush On Sticky Trap Coating https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0039CKKCE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_ZwpoCbQX23Y7W
I put it real thin on yellow solo cups and it catches flies till the cups look black from so many stuck on. I picked up the hint from nmlarson on the forum. This stuff really works.

Thanks mate, but I don't think that will solve the problem.

The normal fly is the National Bird of Australia. We saddle them and use them for public transport.

The Queensland Fruit Fly is a different creature.

I have been escalating my efforts to deal with them.

24 pods for 86g.
I think I might run out of options for you soon Bob. Anyway, here is one more. I do actually use these myself. In my garden, in my greenhouse, in my workshop, in my house...........you get the drill.
You might have to use all the options! I do, my reasoning is that every one I kill is one less to breed more!
Oops, almost forgot the link:

Had to unlike posts #393 and #394   :mope:
Really sad to see the effect those pests
have had on your pods, Bob.

Gotta hand it to skull biker for the Old College Try!

   Better times ahead!

Yes, they are really raping the plant at the moment.

More damage, over 2 days. 14 pods for 41g. (one is ripe without a sting)

That makes 38 pods for 127g. But I am pretty sure only 3 of those pods have been usable.

Not two minutes after I posted those pictures I went to put the stung pods in the freezer (I freeze them for 2 days at least to kill the egg or maggot and then seal them in a plastic bag for garbage day).

Dirty little maggot had dropped out of the pod that it had destroyed.
