food Boil Like A Cajun

Thanks Philly!!!! I love all things YaYa!!!!!!! Can't wait to check it out! Rumor has it that alot of my g-ma's "remedies" were old Cajun lore. Funny thing is....she passed when I was maybe 4 mos old...and yet, I know her remedies when everyone else forgot!!!! hahahaha

I love doing a Low Country Boil when we are visiting Edisto Beach! I'm definitely going to do a boil when we go this October!

It's peanut time of year again! Get 'em while you can. They disappear around November.

I want that seasoning! oh lordy yes.

I have had many boilers in my day for boiling crab. Ann has a 40 gallon 130,000 btu one that boils 30 gallons in under an hour.
Since we don't live on the coast anymore, and I don't fry Turkeys... lol I don't want one. I just want you to boil me some when we come down!

Awesome looking boil Phil! I really need to get a big boiler so  I can do it properly. You make your own seasoning or use store bought?

I use store bought.... Zatarain's Shrimp & Boil. I prefer the Extra Spicy, but I just used regular this time

A sack of crawfish or bushel of crabs usually takes a whole one of each of these:

Lemons, potatoes, onions, garlic, sausage, mushrooms, corn, and just about anything else you can think of... cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, boudin.... I've even heard of people dropping a whole smoked ham into their boils, and they say it comes out awesome, but boiling a whole pot of seafood is expensive enough without having to buy a whole ham!

And during summer time when your peppers are ready, a handful of habaneros, Scotch bonnets, or Lemon Peppers add a ton of flavor to the mix.

Keep in mind, you don't HAVE to boil only crawfish, shrimp, or blue crabs in this mix.... Dungeness, King crab, snow crab, and lobster all come out fantastic this way too!

I'd love to get my hands on some of those Aussie Yabbies or red claws that Booma gets... that would be a coon ass's wet dream!

Man I wish I could get a setup like yours, and hell, if I wanted to cook that much seafood goodness would have to sell my left arm and leg, a kidney and a testicle.

But I'm sure it would be worth it
