CMPMAN1974 - 2012 Grow Log - Started 2/26/12

Well, after a long awaited time, I finally got some seeds in dirt this evening. Wow, it took a long time as some of these names of these varieties are long. :) My theme this year...Pequins/Tepins - rare ones & AFRICA. Also, I think some rare Brazilian varieties will be planted too along with some Pubescens in the next few days. I have no idea how germination will be on some of these African varieties, but it should be fun. I enjoy market varieties and odd stuff found off the beaten path.

Here's what I've got sowed to date. Wish me luck!

Chris

Paul, I actually released these nematodes last year AND this Spring already. I was gifted them by a good friend here. :) It's still early to see results, but I guess by year end I'll know if they made any positive difference. They are tough SOBs to eradicate for sure! Thanks for researching.

Chris

That Gogo's Laudium chile lit me up big time. I'm still trembling a bit after 5 minutes! Oh the Serbian variety is AWESOME - so sweet and crunchy. A real treat for sure.
Nice brother! Thanx

How did they taste mate? I know they aint hot!

How many of each of those ?

Hi Chris, I found your glog and have been following all your post, as usual your pics of all your peppers are great , have you any ripe super hots yet ? The few I grew are just sitting in the ground at 6" tall while the Jalapenos plants are over a foot tall and loaded with large green pods, my C. chacoense and some tepins are over three feet tall and loaded with little pods, This weather has been crazy hot, with shot gun rain/hail storms. It was 108F. the other day before the Heat index then a powerfull storm came through tearing limbs off of trees, my garden was in a mess, although the peppers came out ok. I'm fighting Spider Mites that want to suck the life out of every thing . I hope my super hots do something soon so I can get seeds from them.
I found some of my horticulture pappers on Mutagenesis and may try growing a few mutations next year just for some fun. I hope your weather gets better, it looks like we will finally get a small break from the heat at least for this week.

Armac, this is a new strain of Black Thai from what I ever grew before. Much bigger pods and twisted. I have no ripe ones yet so I haven't tasted yet. I'll let you know.

I have 3 small black Thai. How is the tase of the pods?

Thanks again for the seeds. My favorite so far was Mat Jang. I enjoyed the flavor a lot.

Nice brother! Thanx

I honestly can't remember. It is VERY hard to keep track of all the varieties at this point. It's a bit more work than I'm up to. : When you start growing endless bird types, it's a hell of an ordeal, but I do enjoy them for eating and love finding new ones.

So far Armageddon has been the hottest of the ones I tried. :) I'm waiting on some ripe Impact pods. I'll let you know.

Chris I forget to ask you wich one of my hybrids you like the best by heat scale Armageddon od other?

George, I'm just starting to get a few ripe super hots. I have a feeling in 30 days there will be lots more. They were delayed due to the big heat spell we had. I'm also having issues with pepper maggots more this year than ever - lots of pod drop. It's pretty irritating. :( The only way to win is sheer volume.

Wow, that yellow/orange 7 Pot Infinity cross is HOT. Felt like a knife through my tongue for a bit. :)

Great pod phots as usual Chris...
thats a first, out of all the grows of the Bhut Jolokia Chocolate x 7pot/pod Yellow,
that's the first time a chocolate has turned up, have you taken any pics of the inside?
or tasted yet!

Another great selection of varieties, beautiful documented. That Not Infinity weird cross looks like it splitted up and then grew back together?

Very nice to see the old ruler out again Chirs. :fireball: Great pod pics per usual.
And is that crema marfil marble as the background?

OMG Chris, I didn't have anything last season that looked like that like that not 7 Pot Infinity pic. I'm not sure what to even make of it!! What does it taste like and is it hot?

Always love the way you label your pics and use the ruler. It's visually appealing to me..lol I love the Choco Bhut/Fatalii cross...looks delicious.

The new Trinidad Douglah strain I got late last year is AWESOME!! It truly is a 7 Pot 'Brain Strain' Chocolate, but I won't rename. :) Very unique. The pods all face upwards on the plant and are NASTY looking. This is a small pod compared to others. Looking forward to cracking this badboy open. A few others too.... The 7 Pot Yellow x Bhut Carbon cross Spicegeist made is wicked looking too. I'll taste some tomorrow. :)

Grant, I was surprised too. I wonder if they reverted back for some reason. I am pretty confident I didn't mislabel. I have several of these plants in the garden so I'll report how the others do as things ripen here. The inside of the chocolate one looked like a typical Chocolate Bhut to me. Not as intense as your cross.

The background is a flooring tile - marble - bought at a local hardware store. :)

I've been getting all kinds of weird crosses in the garden! It has nice flavor and has serious heat IMO. It felt like a knife went into my tongue. Not sure what it is, but I sure like it Jack. I always enjoy good surprises like that. :) It was a bit oily.

Hi chris, we are finally cooling down some, but no rain yet. Awesome peppers, I have yet to get a pod off of any of the superhots, they are just sitting there looking sad, my wild ones are going crazy i have one C. chacoense that must have a hundred pods on it. I have a cross that was supose to be a galapagoense X purple pepper of some type. this is the fourth year that I have grown it, it has clusters of round chiltepin size peppers that are quite hot very nice plant. Too bad my Bhuts are not doing anything I will have to see about starting them in Jan or Feb insted of March and add more lights.

Still picking. :) On to new backgrounds. I just enjoyed 915River's pictures too much to not try different ideas. I need to keep it exciting to keep clicking the camera shutter button.

Unfortunately the Kashmiri plant I had died. :( I was bummed out, but I'm growing it again in 2013 for sure! How is yours doing?

Awesome pics and variety. Any luck with the Kashmiri seeds i sent?

Didn't taste that one yet. It was smaller than others on the plant. I'm waiting for the big ones to get fried. :)

The Trinidad Douglah looks cool what is the heat like?

I'm happy to hear you're still growing that Chacoense cross George. It's a nice one for sure. Sorry you haven't gotten any super hot pods, but with the temps it makes sense. Yields surely are better with earlier starts IMO. I'd start them in Jan-Feb. I bet they do better.
