craft beer

Tried these last night.  I don't know if Dogfish Head makes any shitty beers (I've never had a bad one from them).  This one was a little smoky at first and really tasty overall.

I stumbled across this one last year on an out of state beer gathering mission and went back for more last weekend.  A good solid porter for sure.

Finally got to try a Firestone brew.  Unfortunately it was almost six months old but still really tasty.  I should have taken a picture after it warmed up a bit because it was clear, not cloudy as the picture below might indicate. I think the "man fridge" is chilling stuff to around 35f.  Hope to have a fresh one someday.  Still looking forward to trying their Parabola and Sucaba someday (and Black Xanthus... brewed for Nectar Ales by Firestone Walker)

Wow is this thread a blast from the past. You revived it from when I first joined. Joe, go to Fegley's Brew Works in Bethlehem sometime. They have some good beers.

Sadly I have never seen or heard of any of these. Where are they from?
All Vermont beers

Heady Topper - The Alchemist(Waterbury, VT). Highest rated IPA in the country.

Fiddlehead - Fiddlehead Brewery(Shelburne, VT)

Double Sunshine - Lawsons Finest Liquids(somewhere, VT) Very hard to come by. Like almost impossible.

Edward - Hill Farmstead (Greensboro, VT) Rated the best brewery in the country by Beer Advocate.

Heady Topper - The Alchemist(Waterbury, VT). Highest rated IPA in the country.

I do see that it is #1 on BeerAdvocate but has less reviews than others with a 100 ranking as well like Pliny the Elder which gets 1000's in both places. I need to see if that makes it down to Delaware.

Probably won't see it in delaware anytime soon. Demand is so high you can only get it at the brewery on Wednesday and Monday, when it comes off the canning line.
Good to know, if I make a trip up there again I'll see if I can get lucky. Always looking for good beers!

I actually had the pleasure of a Heady Topper.  While for the style it is a phenomenal beer, I could not rank it ahead of Pliny or a few others at the top, most notably Westy 12.

Dark Horse Crooked Tree IPA - Definitely worth checking out. I enjoyed it.

Was at The Belching Beaver in north county San Diego again, last night. These guys brew some awesome stuff. This is what they had just started using the Randall last night.

On Randall in Vista: Juniper, Orange/Lemon/Lime, and Clove Hwy IPA!

And watch out for another experiment soon.

Hop Highway IPA plus????? All I`ll say is it will be primo stuff..........................

Just had one of these.  Not exactly a stout or porter but pretty tasty.  Mad River hasn't disappointed me yet.  Lots of darkness in this one.  Taste of roasted malt, maybe some coffee and chocolate, and cherry and/or figs.  They recommend serving at 45f but I enjoyed it more on the warmer side.   Having said all that, I prefer their stout and porter over this one.

Nigel, I used to work for a brewpub, and every year we would bring a few dozen gallons to the Vermont brewers festival. Last year we ran our flagship IPA through a Randal, and garnished each pour with a fresh hop cone. It took us about 20 minutes to blast through a 5 gallon log, 4oz at a time.

Math- that's 160 satisfied IPA lovers in 20 minutes.

Tried this last night.  Not a big fan of Deschutes but their special releases are often pretty good and this one was too.  Dark, solid, and a bit smoky.  Good stuff.

Drinking this right now.  First time trying this.  I love Left Hand's nitro charged Milk Stout and this is a pretty good porter.  Dark and easy to drink.  Still disappointed they don't sell their SmokeJumper smoked imperial porter here but no complaints about this one.

Drinking this right now.  No coconut that either I or my wife can detect but still a pretty good IPA.

Rip Current is literally 2 miles down the road from my house. I need to go over there and talk to them about this one, I think!!!

Yeah ask them where the hell the coconut went.  Two people including myself can't taste any, and if the comments at ratebeer are anything to go on only 1 out of 50 people can detect a "subtle" hint.   It's a good IPA for sure, but the labeling might give one the idea there's coconut involved.
