D3's 2016 Growlog

Well 2016 is already fast approaching and it's time to start thinking about what to grow this coming year. Last year I started seeds in mid Dec and was running out of room for plants by the time plant out finally came. I think this year I will start the majority in January.

I was going through my seeds to send to a few and figured it was time to start formulating a list of what I want to grow.
There was a lot that I grew 2015 that while ok, I didn't see myself growing again and a few that definitaly made the grow list again. a few off the top my head being paper lantern, baha goats and moa bonnets. Just the right heat levels and great as smoked powders.

Well it's an addiction, I have 16 pots with 9 seeds in each that have come up, well most of them. For a fall planting because of the damage done this spring to my crop. As soon as they put the first true leaves on I'll separate them and see what they do. I need to have fresh seeds, as I'm working with 2014 and earlier seeds. I lost all the 2015 seeds I had due to, lets just say issues

It was cloudy and windy today so I busted out the azamax and a half mask and hit the garden real good including in the greenhouse. Almost as soon as I was done spraying the plants the sun came out and clouds broke up. Hopefully I didn't fry the plants.

Been seeing some reddish colored aphids and spider mite threads on the plants. Last year I treated twice with azamax and the mites went away and didn't see a single aphid all summer. Hopefully I experience similar results.

Evicted the hydro plants today to give the electric bill a break for a few months.

Everything looks great Mike... especially that Bahamian Goat Chile! Good luck with spraying for mites... I use pyrethrin, and always have some leaf drop afterwards.

so far the plants look good, especially for having sprayed during midday. I'll do another treatment in a few weeks.

D3, You might want to check out the DeWitt Straw TackSak for mulch.  It looks good, is very easy to put down and is biodegradable.  Just a thought.  I am using it for the first time so I really do not know how well it will stop weeds from growing...

I thought about putting down some straw. I'll wait and see how yours does. Hesitant about adding anything else to my beds with how much weed seed that shroom compost came with.

My bungee cords finally arrived from amazon... took long enough.

Got the shade cloth over the green house. Lowered temp from 120f to 92f. Really darkened the greenhouse though. Thinking maybe I should of went with 30%

Hey, quick question.  I see you are just outside of Chicago.  Are you going to the Blues Festival?  I went a couple of times back in the old days and it was a blast!  Good food, beer and tunes...
