off-topic Good Mornin' Thread - For those that get up really early and post

Good morning. 52-72F and cloudy all day. Hoping for some of Ratat’s rain soon. Lots of hot garden time in yesterday’s heat - I am not ready for those 80F temps just yet. I did start digging up flowers for the swap, maybe today I’ll find a few more. I talked to my neighbor (who lost his wife in October), and he is not into gardening at all. He loves flowers and will have someone weed and plant flowers. But - he did ask if I would plant a few sweet peppers in HIS garden. Made me smile.
Have a wonderful day. Make someone’s day a little brighter.

Good morning. It's sunny and 64F, on its way to 84F. Another beautiful day. Wish I could share it with those across the pond. We managed to get the ?berries finished yesterday - yay. Today is start picking up sticks day, put the mower deck back on the Kubota and start whacking grass. And so it begins. Might try to hit the garden later, but that's iffy, ha. Hope everybody has a terrific Thursday. Be safe out there.

Morning all!

@catherinew Help me out here. It seems only yesterday you were talking about snow. Where did the heat come from? I'll gladly trade you some for the rain. :)

@Tinkerbelle I just looked at the weather forecast and next week does look promising!

Friday is my day off. If I finish the chores I want to do in the house, I get to spend the rest of the day playing outside. I have so many things I still want to do in the garden that I might just end up fumbling around doing everything at once and nothing at the same time. It will be wonderful.

Happy Friday, go out or stay in and enjoy the flow.

Morning all - Friday is upon us bringing the weekend along in its wake.
It's going to rain all day, it's going to rain all day - this is no April showers, it's a deluge.
Not sure what I'm going to get up to - I started off more seeds yesterday. I had a ferret in the seed box and found a few pepper varieties that I had forgotten about. Even though the greenhouse is full to bursting, I think by the time these beauties are ready to go out I should have moved a fair few pots into the garden 🤞
So no plan for today in itself that is a plan.
Have a good Friday, keep warm, dry, cool, calm and smile :D

We NEED rain! Crazy to think down south got flooded. Schedule was free and I was able to process the cow yesterday, even got the dogs fresh food for a week. Try to use as much as possible. Have stuff I need to clean and move some stuff back to its place in the barn, thats really it. Not sure what we are doing today? Have a great day and good morning.

Good morning and TGIF. It's 56 (13C) on its way to 82 (28C). Still way above normal for this time of year ... but back to colder temperatures tomorrow. I'd be happy with some rain too (hopefully tonight). Back to being dry again. Working for a couple of hours then I need to make a run to the nursery for soil, a stop at WM and a fuel stop. Mowing after that. Catherine - feel free to stop by and plant a couple of peppers in my garden too :)! Grilled pork chops and asparagus with fried potatoes this evening. Be safe and be good.

Good morning.

Been raining since last night. Glad I got some thing done in the yard. It’s all wet clayish mud now.

I guess some indoor chores. Mixed some soil for some plants.

Pasta and sauce tonight.

Have a great day and enjoy.

Edit! Snowing right now. Crazy! It was 76 yesterday.

Good morning with a change in weather 😀. 33-55F and rain predicted. Hard to believe Sic didn’t get the rain from southern Florida. The snow here is beginning the melt off and towns are also seeing some flooding. I’m happy with rain.
@Ratatouille, the weather in Colorado is quite erratic at times. We are close to the foothills and sometimes rain just skips over us, and then we’re pummeled with high temps that linger. But today I can feel the rain. Worked in cooler temps yesterday to get the garden ready for much needed rain. Hubby even cleaned the debris from the patio - lotsa leaves, etc. A good day.
Harry, I’ll send the sweet peppers by pony express. They may be full grown by the time you get them. Here, I just have to walk 100’ to plant the neighbor’s peppers.
Have a wonderful Friday. Stay healthy and safe.

Good morning. It's sunny and 55F, on its way to 79F. The good news is I did the maintenance on the mower deck yesterday - sharpened blades, greased fittings, etc - and installed the deck on the Kubota. Bad news is the discs in my back moved around in a bad way and I can hardly walk today. Time for a pill or two. More bad news - my Mother is back in the hospital. She passed out and was unresponsive for a time last night. Ambulance was called and by the time they arrived she had regained conscious. They transported her to hospital. They ran some tests and the Dr. said they would keep her a day or two for observation. In other words, they have no idea what happened. She's 93, closer to 94, so I guess these things happen. Hopefully the test results will show something. Going to see her soon, then back home to a heating pad, ha. Hope everybody has a freaky good Friday. Be safe out there.

Morning!

It's cloudy and 46F today, but it might rise to 60F. Look at me being all happy.

I cleaned and ordered my fruit cage yesterday. Even put my kiwiberries in the spot where I planned to have them years ago. Led the new shoots of the tayberry and the Japanese wineberry so they're nice and tidy and did some late pruning for a thorny fruit bush.

On to another garden task later today. But first weekly grocery shopping.

Dinner will be undon noodles with fermented bean sauce. One of my favorites.

It feels like today will be a good day. May yours be the same and more.

Morning all - smell that weekend and sunshine, bit cold and blustery but it's not raining that'll do for me.
Loads of garden stuff planned for this weekend - you know what that means, woman plans, weather laughs
Hot dogs, loads of caramelised onions and hot mustard planned for this evening plus MotoGP qualifying from COTA - it's going to be good.
Have a good Saturday, may the sun shine on you and your pepper plants - keep warm, cool, calm and smile :D

Good morning and Happy Saturday! It's 54F (12C) on its way to 62F (17C). Quite a cool down. Had several rounds of thunderstorms roll through already this morning with more to come throughout the day. Not a day to be working outside. Already watered everything in the grow room and now I'm watching the early match. Big country breakfast after that. DR - Sorry to hear about your back. Take it easy; Ratty - fruit cage .... very interesting, udon noodles (yum); Tinky - those hot doggies sound delicious. Yesterday I mowed, cleaned up the blackberry patch and strawberry beds and topped off all the raised beds with nursery soil (the ones that don't have anything planted in them yet). I've got up potting on today's agenda. Asiago chicken is on this evening's menu. Probably have a few beverages too. Be safe and be good. S.M.I.L.E.

Prayers for you and your mother Down. Harry your back all better? Catherine not a drop for us in central florida. Maybe tomorrow? Played guitar most of yesterday and going to do the same today. Burgers tonight and im stoked, meat is probably 90 percent lean so we need to add some bacon grease which is fine by me. Wife is working in her garden pushing around wheelbarrows of manure, lol. Shes pretty. Have a great day and good morning.

Good morning. 29-45F. Yesterday’s rain turned to snow for most of the day, no accumulation as the ground was still warm from the *84*F temps. “April showers bring May flowers” I hope. Sic, I hope rain blesses you also, not that flooding amount. Love that your wife is busy in the garden.
Ratatat, your tay berries sound very delicious. Are they hard to grow or invasive? Something to look into. We grow red currants for jam - small shrubs and easy to control. Little space gets crowded. Maybe I have too many flowers.
Downriver, many prayers for your mom and family. Stay strong.
Have a wonderful Saturday. Enjoy the weekend with family and friends. S.M.I.L.E.

Good morning. It's sunny and 64F, on its way to 75F. Had some rain overnight and a thunderstorm forecast for this afternoon. Might still be an ok day. Thanks for the caring thoughts. Spent the afternoon with Mom yesterday. She was her normal self. They don't know what happened. Could have been a drop in blood pressure? Anyway, they are kept her overnight and MAY release her today, depending on how she's doing. My back is....not good. All I can do is rest it as best I can, however, I need to up-pot tomatoes, lol. Once it starts, gardening can keep you busy, ha. Hope everybody has a super Saturday. Be safe out there.

Good morning,

@catherinew Tayberries are not invasive (in our climate). Especially compared with blackberries. Tayberries spread with spine free canes, not runners. I have them planted in the ground, where my blackberries are in a huge mortar tub.

@Harry_Dangler All of my berries used to get eaten by the doves and other birds. They'd leave about a handfull for me. I build this fruit cage after a plan I found online for a bird perchery. It works! Now I just have to share my strawberries, peas, lettuce and cabbage plants with the birds and everything else with the family of voles living somewhere on my plot. 😁

It's a drizzly day today. I'm taking my umbrella and Mr. Ratat for a day out into a town about an hour drive away. A stroll through town, followed by dinner in one of our favorite restaurants. I'm panicking while reading the menu. Choosing is impossible. I might force Mr. Ratat to share.

But before we leave, there's a few hours left. Time to get me hands dirty. The allotment never rests.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Morning all - Sunday is here. Sunny day promised but rather cloudy and chilly at the moment.
Want to plant up the soaked seeds this a.m., yes I know, more plants, but these are my experimentals.
Got an afternoon and evening of MotoGP which I'm looking forward to.

Had a great afternoon yesterday, my lovely friend Babette has done a bee keeping course and invited me to go help her with the hives.
So suited and booted off we went, it was fascinating checking out the bees, not a bit scary surrounded by all those furry insects. Only had one moment of "oh shit" when I thought a bee had got into my face netting  Loved it so much I'm going again next weekend. This could be my new hobby.

@Downriver - happy to hear your Maman is better, not so good news about your back pain - rest up, take lots of painkillers.

Have a good Sunday folks, keep cool, warm, dry and smile :D

Good morning. Typical Spring day, sunny and cool. Too cold to venture out into the CG and clean the small flower bed, so the inside peppers will get washed of aphids. Gnats seem to be under control, so these aphid buggers take over.
Thanks for the tay berry info, Ratat.
Glad to hear Downriver’s mom is doing better.
Have a beautiful Sunday, everyone. Make someone else’s day a bit brighter.

Good morning. It's sunny and 60F, on its way to 82F. Chance of a stray thunderstorm this afternoon, but otherwise a beautiful day. Mom was released from hospital yesterday and is back at home. First thing she wanted to do was go to bed and get some sleep. Said she hadn't had any while in the hospital, ha. No concrete evidence, but they think it was a drop in blood pressure and she passed out. We'll keep an eye on her. In other news, I managed to get the pots out for the tomatoes, but didn't fill them with potting mix yet. Maybe today, after the pills kick in. These tomatoes are gonna be old and gray before they get up-potted lol. Hope everybody has a peaceful and restful Sunday. Be safe out there.
