Yea 12' is pretty crazy. was that in a bucket or in ground? Being in Chicagoland I can't even hope to grow one that large. Even if purposely trying to make it leggy and tall.

San Onofre will do nicely!  Forget Jobe's Spikes (WIMPY!), a few spent fuel rods jabbed into the ground are certain to light up your plants!
