Guru's 2013

It begins with a tray...

Ya ok creek is ok. Here Flagstaff brewing company is by far the most popular ...they've got a badass porter that's really smooth (for a porter) also their bubba IPA is around 10%. Also worthy of mention though are beaver street brewery, mother road (small very local and good), and new one just opened up on the east side that people have been raving about.

Anyway glad ya had fun this state is awesome. Theres world class mountain biking around here if your into that and hiking is first class.

Next time you get up this way let me know! I'm subbing this years glog for sure.

Did lots of hiking while I was there. Hiked to a few bat caves, no guano but still worth the hike! I had to get used to the elevation at times, not used to tokin at 6,000 ft! LoL

Thinking about moving out there though, its surreal beauty out there. A calling.

I saw that guy last night on your plant, but thought it was a slug. Earwigs will also put the ugly on some leaves.

Ya flag is at 7000'... when I first moved here ild go out for some drinks and end up tanked! Couldnt figure out why lol... that elevation can be sneaky before you know it your shit canned.

I hiked humphries peak a month ago that's 12,600'. What's so cool about the area is Sedona is 30 minutes away from my house. Down hwy 89A one of the most scenic drives around...then you have 100 degree weather, red rocks, cactus and gorgeous cliffs. Head 30 minutes the other direction up snowbowl road you have 70 degree weather, soaring pine forests, mountains and snowboarding/skiing! Lol. literally a half hour in different directions from Flag. Desert in one direction snow in the other. Fkn awesome.

Hiked havasupai a few weeks ago. Its an hour and a half from here.Caribbean blue waters with 200' waterfalls everywhere ... so badass. 26 miles hiked in 3 days with a 40lbs pack though...the hike out sucked balls. lol

Anyway didn't mean to hiijack ...grow on!

I lived in flagstaff for a few years when I was younger. My uncle owns the Hotel Monte Vista, room 204 was mine for 3 years. Great town.

Armadillidiidae, well whataya know. I never knew their proper name, but it is quite appropriate. Damn, learn something new everyday. Thanks for the detective work. I have found some aphids also but have an army of ladybugs on the way to hopefully take care of that problem.

Yea most of the older leaves on my plants look like crap but there is a lot of new growth so we shall see.

On a more positive note, I did harvest my first Manzano pod from my indoor dwc plant.

It was awesome!!! Can't wait for more.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread, just thought you might like to see some fresh pod porn.

Happy growing, Robert

Found out! You're not gonna believe this but its armadillidiidae! Thats right rollie pollies! They usually just eat decaying matter and wood, but given the right, tender, succulent, organically grown plant leaves, they will crawl up and chew down! I'll let them slide, they dont eat much and the work they do for the soil far out weighs the damage they do to any of my leaves :)

See him?!
My soil is full of these guys, tons of them, but I have never seen one on a plant like that!

I'm going to have to start paying attention to your grow log. You're doing some really incredible things. I would like to try making fish fert the way you do, but I don't think I can get away with fermenting fish on my balcony. When I get a chance I'll read through this whole thing.

Thanks for the help earlier!

How difficult is that grapevine to keep up? I'm considering getting one but I'm not exactly sure where Ild want to put it just yet.

Grapes are easy, the only upkeep is the early spring pruning. They can be quite the disease magnets, but with some AACT early on in the year during budbreak, you can usually keep spot and pm in check.

What's in the bucket besides fish? How long are you gonna leave it there? How are you gonna use it?

Is this spider web?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

We are all learning a lot from your glog!

Its just water, some run through the compost strainer, but it's just water and fish. I let it ferment for about a month. Stir daily until you see no solid remains of any fish body. Just brown putrid water, with liquefied bone, scale, flesh, teeth, skin, and a nice rainbow of fish oil. I only do this once a season. Meaning I only "fertilize" one time the entire year. :)

What's that webby thing in the "Aphid protection" photo?

Guru, thanks for the "dank tank" instructions.

Time to go start one of my own. Guessing blue gill from our pond will be fine...

Also, almost forgot, your glog, plants, and methods are an inspiration. Keep up the fine work.
