Evil, Jeff: just evil with that crappie, throwing it back . . . Ought (NOT) to come down to Lake James for the "Walleye Run" every spring: idiots go up Linville River, skinny water, in like yachts, get stuck, scare pi** outta fish. Only done that insanity once. Friend has cabin on Linville and whether legal or not, middle of March, he sits out front and reels a few in on crawlers, enough to fry up a mess.

Should have listened to my instincts on Sunday and gone for crappie, because they were filling livewells! But . . . stayed here and scratched in dirt more for new pepper garden. Alas . . . :mope:

Jeff betcha gotta be getting antsy to get those raised beds filled up with peppers.
Looks like a few more days of this counter-clockwise weather pattern, then back into the 60's next week......hmmm, that sounded nostalgic...lol

Nice looking Manzano's, are they flowering ?

Well I have to say I just got my fish fry fix stopping here.....unfortunately I'm real hungry and may have to stop at the fish market to curve my desires.

Flowering heck, I got a pod on the one already.

I'm not a crappie eater, so might as well put her back.  If no one else gets her, at least she can spawn and make some more for everyone else.

I'm not going fishing. That's for sure. Not a fan. Now, chartering a fishing boat on Lake Michigan where the captain did all the real work while my brothers and I drank beer wasn't all that bad, but really expensive to do more than once every few years.  Best fishing around here is done at Kroger IMHO.

My dad loved fishing. It must skip a couple of generations.

LOL!

Congrats on that pod!

Damn Jeff!!  Plants,  fish,  garden,  everything looks good!  Did you get the 12 gauge out to shoot  big ole' turkey Tom,  or are you like me and bring the bow with some guillotine broadheads?  I usually bring both just in case!  Hopefully after this weekend I see a ground dragger in this GLOG.  Good luck on the hunt,  and I'd wish you luck with the garden but who needs luck when YOU got skills!  Loving the GLOG man!  Now I need to go get some more bluegills in the morning to fry up for this weekend!  Cool thing about TN,  no limit on them    Back in WI your limit was 25 a day which wasn't terrible either.

No limit on gills here...yet, but 25 is about all I would want to fillet at one time any how.

Haven't really been out after the birds this spring.  Not here.  See a tom once in a while, but I think winter got tough on them.  I only hunt them on the farm.  If I hunt off the farm I have to purchase a 25 dollar tag to go with the 9 dollar stamp.  Might as well just buy me a bird.  I have 4 tails/beards on the wall, and that is good enough for me for now.

Getting one day off a week right now and not a lot of birds makes it easy to decide to spend that morning on the water chasing eyes.  Which isn't easy this year yet either.  Not sure why.  This time last year I had already boated 58 walleye.

Good luck to you!!!

Aww man,  a couple beers,  a good filet knife and a sharpener keep me busy all day.  I'd start keeping the scraps but I'm scared that some critter come dig em up out the garden. I feel you on the bird,  a lot easier and cheaper to just go buy one,  but it is fun to lay the smackdown on one too :P

I believe after this weekend I will begin to harden off.  Going to be a happy time to shut down the grow room and give it a break before I revamp it for next season.

I did snap some pics today.

OW will be rocking outside soon.

My early (stop me from planting peppers too soon in March) chard is doing well.   I wish all my chard looked like this.

Low tonight 47, tomorrow 47, Sunday 38, Monday 45, then the next 6 days the lowest temp is 50.  Might start hardening off Monday, but will see what the next ten day forecast is showing before I think about dirt.

I can get more seeds in the ground the way it looks though.
