hooda's Grow 2012 - Rise of the Clones

So today i just transplanted my first set of seedlings that are about 3 weeks old now and have started my new seeds I just got from pepperlover.com today.

3 week old peppers are:

Manzano
Gochu
Caribbean Red
Jalapeno
Cayenne
Bhut Jolokia
Fatalii
Aji Lemon
Aji Chuncho
Tepin
Red Habanero
Scotch Bonnet TFM
Maui Thai
7 Pod Yellow

Transplants were done a bit early for some but I think it was for the best as they were all in jiffy pellets and some of the seedlings were starting to root past the pellet and starting to dry out faster than I was comfortable with.

Pepperlover.com was awesome and threw in Orange Hab, Red Hab, and Aji Chuncho with my order

Also all of the seedlings I'm growing I still have extra seeds if anyone is interested in some trades.

So the newest growth after transplant is pretty curled and weird. Otherwise the plants look health, and no signs of aphids, so I'm just going to give em some time before I start to adjust to their condition. I'll update later with some pictures.

Lookin' great, Hooda! The rows may not be straight,
but when the plants are grown up you won't be able
to see the rows, anyway :)

Good luck as you head into summer!

Man Hooda your plants look perfect. They are gonna get huge once they get acclimated to there new home. And I love the smoked powder. :fireball:

Nice work Hooda! That had to be a lot of work digging and prepping, it should pay off with a great harvest. I've not used tumeric before, interesting that you use it with powder - what is the taste like? Also, I wonder if the curling and stuff from the new growth is from the plants adjusting to the change. With the amendments you added and then something else to lower the pH, I wonder if there is just a lot going on in the soil that will settle itself out. All of that just to say, I think you're doing the right thing giving them time. Btw, I just put a pic up on my glog of the yellow manzano seedlings from the seeds you sent. Thanks again for sending those and happy growing!

Tumeric is a common spice for currys, it has a tangy flavor but savory I think.

Some shots from today.

Now that your babies are in the ground and the drip irrigation is in place, are you planning on putting down mulch to keep out the weeds?

Mulch not only keeps weeds at bay, it feeds the soil and becomes soil as it breaks down. Prevents disease, feeds soil microbes, retains moisture which requires less watering....all good stuff.

Yeah I was going to go get some straw this weekend. But if that doesn't work out, because I would get it from a feed store locally and I don't know the times they are open, I'll pick up something else. I would have done it already but I've had some other things going on this week.

I am also looking to add an Ez Flo fertigation to the drip system, which I hope to get by next week. Ez flo seems to be a good choice, has anyone added a fertigator to their system that has any insight to possible better options?

What do you like to use for mulch?

Lookin' good brother! Those Gochus are beasts aren't they? They look like the tallest thing you have going. Hope your weekend is a great one!

Cool watering system you got going, might try that myself some day. I guess you can't run it on a timer since weather always change. Your plants sure look happy, hopefully get a long and bountiful life hehe

Real pro stuff brother! From prep to planting to irrigation. Doing is all right my friend! Can't wait to see them after a month of nice sunny San Diego days!

Update for today. So far mostly everything is growing and starting to bud up.

I've got pods on my Gochu, jalapeño, and cayenne. But I only got a shot of the cayenne, they're about 2 inches in length

Photo sucks cause my 4s wants to focus on anything but what I want it to but you get the idea.

I still have more work to do on the garden but I have been occupied with my new toy.
