JCW's 2015 Glog

Well, here's to another year. I wanted to downsize from last year, and ended up practically doubling everything.  Started germinating on Jan 22 using paper towel method.  Tried 2 ways, one in cups with the seeds on top, other the way I have always done with the seeds in paper towel in ziploc.  Both have worked, but the paper towel in ziploc seems faster, maybe better temp control there.  So far have about 55 seeds in dirt after 11 days with many of them already popped up and looking happy.
 

 
Almost an embarrassing setup compared to many I see on here, but it worked great 10 years ago, and still worked fine last year so I figure no need to change yet.

Will need another rack of lights this year for the increase in volume I have.

Ditto on the MOAs. I've stripped a lot of lower leaves hoping they go up a little.

Yeah,  I'll probably do something like that.  Had a douglah last year that was not growing up.  Even 3 weeks after planting out. Finally topped it and then it reached for the sky, so might do that or might just leave them.  
 

 
I've got a bunch of rabbits around as well. I've got myself a couple bottles of fox urine at the ready to keep em away as well as one of those fake owls with the bobble head. First time trying the owl but I know the fox piss works. Just have to apply a bit after each rain. Doesn't take much
 
Plants are looking really great Justin. You're gonna have trees by the time plant out comes around lol.

I got rabbits all over but they don't seem to bother the peppers.  Probably too much better stuff around.  They do like to get in the fence and try to dig their homes right in the only patch of yard where the dogs go.  They could pick anywhere else and be much safer but every year we find a hole being dug in the dogs spot.

Plants look very nice, Justin.  My MoA last season was a shorter bush, as well.  
In fact, all the bonnets I've grown with the exception of the TFM have been
smaller in stature.  The TFM was in an 18-gallon container, however.
 
It's good that you have some sunny windows to put the overflow in!

Thanks.  Good to know about the MOAs.  Will put them on an outside row so they don't get overgrown by some of the bigger varieties so much.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else on the MoAs.  They aren't dwarf plants by any means, but definitely smaller than the 7 Pods and Scorpions.  Mine seemed to branch out a lot more on their own and consequently were the worst I had for pod-laden branches breaking.  The White Devil's Tongues I grew last year really were almost what I'd call a dwarf plant, especially compared to the 7Ps and TSs, but wow were they prolific.

If I see the circles right, color blindness makes it hard to see sometimes.  But one front center I believe is Pimenta De Neyde.  The 2 a little to the left are 7JPN.

I had almost 300 plants.  I overdue it with the spares every year.  Then just can't get myself to throw any out but running out of room as I put them in bigger pots so they gotta go.  Mailed some away, gave several to co workers, met with some guys that needed some reapers, and gave them a bunch of other stuff and got those 4 nice ones in return.  Got the rest lined up to go.  Will have around 180 - 190 left about 20 spares I will keep until after planting out which should be around 170 which is about 160 too many.  Its almost certain I will step on a few or trip and fall or something so need a few spares.

I thought it looked more like a drunk with a weedeater stopped by, but needed done, they were pretty lanky.  Now if I can just get the rest big enough in time.  Topped most of about 5 flats, still have 5 more where they are pretty short.  Might snip a lot of those in the next few weeks though so they have time to recover before planting.

Everything is looking good. I've had to top some of my annums twice now as they were growing up into the lights. Found a 4 inch long Jimmy Nardello pod that I must've missed when pinching off flowers.

Tepin X Lemon Drop from smileyguy with dinner tonight.  This is has some heat and a very unique taste not sure I can describe.  I know its not like any other pepper I have ever had.

I know, both of those parents were near top of my list to try this year.  Wasn't expecting that one, but glad to get it.  Bright orange pods are still one of my favorite.  Tend to prefer those over red ones.

I haven't tried it either had red primo last year.  It was good, but brutal.  Hoping the orange and yellow is just a little milder.  I like to grow the superhots, but I think my favorite level is more like the yellow brain strain level, somewhere hotter than habanero but not at the top like the reapers etc.
