JCW's 2015 Glog

Well, here's to another year. I wanted to downsize from last year, and ended up practically doubling everything.  Started germinating on Jan 22 using paper towel method.  Tried 2 ways, one in cups with the seeds on top, other the way I have always done with the seeds in paper towel in ziploc.  Both have worked, but the paper towel in ziploc seems faster, maybe better temp control there.  So far have about 55 seeds in dirt after 11 days with many of them already popped up and looking happy.

Almost an embarrassing setup compared to many I see on here, but it worked great 10 years ago, and still worked fine last year so I figure no need to change yet.

Will need another rack of lights this year for the increase in volume I have.

Nice! I got all but one plant planted out. I wish I would of left some spacing like you did. Wasn't sure i'd have enough room so packed em in tight... Ended up with enough space to pick up a few plants at the nursery.

Things are looking great! Can't wait to see all yours filled in.

If they grow like last year, will become one giant mass.  Hoping leaving a 3.5' gap every 3rd row will give me some more space to walk this year.  Last year only had 5 rows but all a little less than 2' apart.  Double the acreage this year so 9 rows of about 12 there with 2 big gaps.  
 
West garden pretty much done.  Have about a 2 x 3 section with nothing, haven't decided what to do.  Might put a fence and put some herbs or maybe some more onions.  Next 2 pictures show the baccatums, annums, tomatoes, and everything else going there.

Still sitting at 45 in the ground in the East garden which will be all chinense.  Cold tomorrow high in mid 50s with rain.  Lows in mid to low 40s, hoping they are established enough and ground warm enough to avoid any stunting.

Had to make an overflow row.  Had a few new and few others I couldn't fit in the rest and couldn't part with.  The left side of this was just added, have one row all prepped to hold about 20 but will only be about a foot apart.

Might have a sick one...  One of the main branches looks health as can be but 2 other slightly smaller ones have wilted and drooped.  Could have been sun? wind? cold? If the rest drops will probably pull it out.

Hopefully tomorrow will be the last of the cold for the year and get these things out of house and in the ground and final pots for good.
 
looking good, that lil one doesn't look any worse than anyone of my plants, those winds, cold and sun really did a number on them. 
 
May 20, 1PM and its 42 degrees and raining.  Probably won't warm up any more today hopefully it won't get too much colder either.  This will be a good test to see the effects of one really cold rainy day.  Since the rest of the area is almost the same will get to see if the 45 chinenses in the ground already get stunted by this.
 
Sheesh. 91 & humid here. The past 2 weeks have been about 10-12 degrees warmer than average I love colder weather. Not sure the plants would like 42 but I would.

I really dislike cold weather.  I hate it.  I would take your 91 + 100% humidity anyday.  Have seen way too many -10 or worse last few winters.  I need to move south, hopefully before I am too old to do anything. 
 
I run a lot. My favorite running conditions are 28 with 2" of snow. I spend a lot of time in the mountains & have run several 3-10 hour runs in sIngle digits & wind. Makes me feel alive. 91 makea me feel dead. Favorite conditions otherwise (non running)- 58. Again, maybe not the best for peppers. I feel if we long for each others conditions we may end up with a Freaky Friday situation. :)

You would love it here tonight.  Just came back in after about 20 minutes doing some outside stuff.  Feel like I'm frozen solid.

yeah, i'm planting 2 rows 2 ft apart with 5 ft in between so i can easily walk on both sides. last time had a hell of a time getting between the plants and millions of mosquito would would flutter up and feast on me!  :doh:
 
Most are planted now.  Made a row with 17 spots for some that couldn't fit in the orignal plan.  Will fill most of those spots in the morning.   Also have a few random holes to fill as a few looked sick so didn't plant them, might put them in some pots in far corners of the yard to see if they come out of it.  Hopefully doesn't spread to others.  About 10 - 15 more for pots, some will let get a bit bigger first.  Back is killing now, off to bed shortly, hope I can get out of it in the morning.
