Meatfreak 2014 Glog

So I've started my grow a couple of weeks ago, 28th of January. I use the same setup as previous seasons, 2x 125watt CFL 6400K lights, black/white foil. First round were the Chinense, about 22 different varieties, mostly superhots and hots. Almost everything germinated within a week and with a total germ rate of 92% I was pretty pleased. I potted them up last week and they quickly showed new growth again. Well enough talk, this is what the plants looked like yesterday, 10 days after transplant and almost 4 weeks from start date.

This season I'm growing out a couple of crosses from friends like Gary/Nagabrain Chocolate F-2, Mike/Elysium Oxide Bonnet and Jamie/Green Hornet F-2. Also some phenotypes that showed up at John's garden, 7 Pot Peach F-2 and 7 Pot Caramel F-2. Of course I'm also growing my own discovery from last season, Pimenta Lisa F-2. Got 2 seedlings going, one has the desired traits so far and the other one is green as grass. Looking forward to growing both out!

Last weekend I started up the second round, mostly Annuum and some Chinense I got in trades these last few weeks. Today the the first ones sprouted after merely 3 days and even Chinense! Well that's it for now, thanks for keeping up so far :D

Thanks for the pictures, those maters look delicious :) Did you make sauce or salsa with them already? Well at least the kids like the Datterini :) Yeah the P. Lisa has 2-3 pods on each node over here as well (same thing with the green phenotype), it looks exactly like mine. They are ripening of quickly now but I try to leave them on as long as possible.

No Stefan, I haven't, but the plan is to can up some salsa with them this week. I'll leave the P Lisa pods on the plant as long as possible to try and get as many viable seeds as I can.

Love the hoophouse set-up bro ... very cool ... it looks like you have been getting some great harvests of Tomatoes and Chilli's ... Great stuff.

The Datterini are great looking tomatoes. I presume these the same Datterini, do you think?

Could be, I have no idea. I was told it's an wild variety from Italy and not an Hybrid or some kind.

Sounds good, Rick. I'm planning on salsa also with the second tomato harvest, currently have a lot of sauce tomatoes ripening of.

Thanks, mate. The pods have yet to come in on larger numbers but there are a lot of ripe pods ready for picking. Some have gone soft already but haven't gotten the time for it yet.

Everything looks great from my house Stefan!

Glad to see the harvests and that stellar garden! My Maters are done, pulled them up before the last trip. Do you compost the plant waste or destroy it?

Keep it green!
Wife made this harvest as I have problems with my back again :( Haven't been up to the garden for 5 days now but she took some pictures and there's a lot ripening. I do not compost the plant waste but put it in bags and bring it to the dump were they destroy it. So far a lot of people are having phytophthora already, not over here as I try to keep the watering to a minimum. I expect to clear most plants by the end of next month already since they are ripening of pretty quickly now. I'm like 6-7 weeks ahead compared to last season.

Jalapeño Jaloro, these take ages indeed to ripe of.

Petit Marseillais, can't wait to try these. Think they look very tasty :)

Datterini

Bychok, big ones were around 24 oz each.

Sweet Carneros Pink, although they don't look true to me since they are orange with pink stripes instead of pink and orange stripes. My other 3 plants are putting out 2 different colors of tomatoes also. Eggplant is called Rosa Bianca.

Santa Clara Canner & Napoli Paste (she was not allowed to pick these yet since I wanted to make salsa from them :P)

Those peppers do look quite tasty.  If your Jaloro were like mine, they should be a bit hotter than your jalapeno peppers.

Looking nice.
Looking forward to tasting then, will harvest them tomorrow. Some went already soft.

Looks like this Elysium Oxide Bonnet F-4 plant is true, Mike :) Sorry about the picture quality, best I could do at this moment since I was happy to see color on them already.

These are more then ready for harvesting to.

Well being out of likes since I got back seems to be the norm :shh:

Sorry about the back bothering you. I worked on cars for 25 years before moving to IT work. I think I hurt most everything at one time or another. Rehab exercises are my salvation, but sometimes I feel they take much of my time, and then the hurt comes back..LOL

Oh, harvest those beautiful pods!

Feel better!

Thanks, Scott. I know where a part of the problem lies but it's hard to give in. I hate those rehab exercises and like you said it takes much of your time. Anyway, with some good rest it will get better. Did not rest tonight and made a nice harvest. No pictures yet since night was setting in but I did manage to make one of the Scotch Brain's I've got. They look exactly like last season, hopefully the taste the same also but I'm sure they will! Have a great weekend all!

Very happy to hear Stefan of the color true.  The pic is great cause it is jam packed with pods from your great skills!  When you learn, I'm curious as to the wall thickness, heat and flavor.  I think the very first pods that inspired me were sort of medium thickness, very hot and great flavor.  I have seen some relativly thin walls on some true color recently.  I also grew an F2 to be F3 this season and it made what apears to be a Douglah form and color.  Not sure why I did other than I was out of isolated F3 seeds.  Have yet to try them.

Thanks for growing them!  I will be tasting a dark pheno P. Lisa this weekend.
Those Scotch Brains are very cool and I bet amazing!

Mike

Great pod porn Stefan, and lots of Tomato goodness! Do you can up your Tomatoes to preserve them for the winter? Those Bonnet Brains look like they'll hurt... if they taste like the MoAs I picked this morning, it might be worth it... ;)

Sorry you're having problems with your back... do you use Arnica ointment? I've sworn by it for the last 20 years. Take care!

Looked again yesterday, Mike and the pods were almost fully turned already. Must be the weather ;) It does look true for sure! It could have had more pods if the Georgia Black hadn't taken over the entire space. The EOB is now trying to branch out by growing through the branches of the GA Black  As soon as I have taste it, I will put on report on here :) Looking forward to try, except for the very hot part :P
Does your P. Lisa look like mine below on the picture also?

I do can them up, Rick. Filled up 10 jars last week but will be doing some more this week. Will do an huge harvest tomorrow or somewhere next week, depends on when I have the time to actually process everything to. Also planning on making an batch of salsa again, it was an big hit last year although I did not write down my exact recipe. Have to make a batch, write it down and see how that taste. Last year those Scotch Brain weren't that hot, mighty tasty but not superhot. Never heard of Arnica ointment, will have to look it up. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing Stefan. Peppers and Toms are looking great. Great looking Scotch Brains. Hope your back feels better.
Thanks, Chuck. It does feel a bit better, have been resting when possible :)

Harvest time has come and managed to make a first decent harvest, 1.6kg in total. Sorry for the watermark but some people think it's okay to use your pictures to sell their own stuff.
