One of my favorites--Warning spider picture

Thanks Vincent. Please feel free to add a few of your own.

People ship spiders through USPS, Fed Ex, UPS, DHL and any other carrier. Happens every day. You should have seen the look on the face of my USPS Express lady the first time I told her what was in the box. She just asked if there was any way for it to escape and I told her nope. She brings me packages all the time. I tip her hard come Christmas time.

Lee you need to PM Vincent.

If only Avicularia versicolor stayed that blue!!! :drooling::drooling:

Henry the Jumper AKA Jumpy Jumpelson, AKA High Altitude Henry decided to visit again today. There's been a few gnats around the house so there's food for him now and he's guarding my peppers. I've never found a web from him tho so I have no clue how he's catching any food.

They catch their prey by ambushing them, dude. I LOVE jumping spiders. I could watch those little guys all day.

I'm starting to like him, except whem I'm doing work in the grow room and I'm always afraid I squashed him or he's crawling on me when a pepper leaf tickles my arm.

I have some sort of widow spider infestation in my garage. They are not black, but grayish and fat, typical widow shape. We get smaller black ones in the house, which I think I have identified as false black widow, which can actually prey on and kill the real black widow. Odd. My son kept one as a pet for a few months.

Sorry can't find pic of that.

Up at the lake house in New York State we get these large fast hairy ones down by the water. Can grow a bit larger than the palm of my hand. Some kind of a fishing spider or something.

Looks like a a type of wolf spider Worloc. Down here in Florida they get to be about 6 inches across the leg spread, and are very fast and aggressive.

I think the scariest thing about these, other than the size (for a spider these are big for my locale) is the SPEED of these things. They are quite literally like lightning.

Yep. And when they come running right at you it usually makes most people freak out and scream like little girls.

Oh man, if one of those bastards ever actually got on me and was zipping around on me, I'd be screaming like a little girl for sure. I'm a 6' tall 300+ pound scary lookin man at that!!

I get the chills just thinking about it. Ewww.

Wolfies! Believe it or not I'm not a fan of wolf spiders. Too fast!

There are a few tarantulas that could run with them though. Here's one of them. The is another one of my favorite ladies. She is a Poecilotheria ornata and comes from India or Sri Lanka, not sure right now. This is one of the largest arboreal spiders there is and can reach almost nine inches in leg span. This particular girl is right at six inches.

Pretty isn't she?

Another one of my favorite ladies. This one is a Cyriocosmus elegans, Trinidad Dwarf and she is just about fully grown. She can probably fit on a quarter with maybe toes hanging over the edge.

The container she is in is a half pint deli cup with a bit of coco coir. Just to her left you can see dinner.
