Wow, that is one kickass plant! Do tell on the flavor once you know! I am marking that one down as a definite maybe for next season!

If that baby produces pods I'll let you guys know how they taste for sure.

Rest of the plants are doing pretty good. I still have a couple that are suffering from the dang fungus gnat larvae but I think I'm on the downhill with them. I'll get some pics up this weekend.

Those ghost lady pods are trick, patrick!
They almost look like candy :D
Can't wait to see how yours turn out.

Gotta hand it to AISPES. Those ghost ladys are pretty freaking sick. I may even like those more than the pimenta tigers. Pink is the new red you know...

Trying to track that down for you RF, let you know when I know.

Figured it was time for an update. I have decided to give the smart pots a run and see if all the hype is true. Got to give it decent test so I have about 15 of them. Have a few five gallon ones but mostly 7 gallon. I did pick up one 15 gallon to see if I can grow a monster. I'm skipping a pot up with some plants too. Instead of going from the 20 oz cups to the one gallon pot I'm skipping the one gallon and going directly to the 5 or 7 gallon pots. This warm spring has got me wanting to speed everything up.

Anyway, here's a few of the 7 gallon smart pots,

A few of the Scotch Bonnets in the back have pods on them and I'm going to let them go. I have about 20 more plants in the house still that I'll probably have moved out to the garage very soon.

Thanks gentlemen.

Matt I add some Happy Frog Soil Conditioner, around an eight to one ratio, since the Pro Mix is basically nute free. I started using it a couple of years back when I wanted to reuse some potting mix. It rejuvenated the old stuff so I figured what the heck lets add some to the new stuff. First time I tried it was with a Scotch Bonnet. It was one of my biggest and healthiest peppers that year.

Thanks. I just have a real problem with it becoming water logged. I am working up a bit of a Promix, mix, for my containers. I used it last year and some of my plants turned out great, others, couldn't shed the water and I spent the season repotting.

Interesting about the Happy Frog, maybe I will give it a shot. So your not really having any drainage issues that way?

I am loving the bright and shiny white roots.

Wow Patrick...looks like this years grow is off to a great start...

I am wondering something...did you trim the old "brown" roots off before planting again...

good luck the rest of the season my friend...

Patrick everything is looking superb.
Hope you have better luck than me with the smart pots.
Not sure if it's the soil I use and it dries out to fast or what but I have not had any luck with the few plants I have in smart pots.
But you have much madder skills than I so I will keep a close eye on what you are doing.

Have a great weekend!
Jamie

Matt I'll add some perlite to the mix when I'm using the old growing medium. I've never had drainage issues with Pro Mix though. The pots I use have four nice sized holes along the side and one dead center on the bottom plus they sit on concrete. They have always drained well.

AJ that particular plant is still sitting in a cup of water. Been thinking about planting it. I was wondering if I should remove the brown, sounds like I should. Thanks for the well wishes.

Jamie this is my first year with smart pots. I'll be sure to keep a good eye on drying issues, thanks for the tip. Don't know about madder skills, I just have a lot of time to spend with them and all the great advice I can find here. Hope your season goes well.

You need to be sure and water the outer edges of the smart pot, slowly so that the water doesn't run out of the cloth too much. This helps alot with the pots drying out more evenly and working better. Otherwise they cause almost too many roots to dry out if you don't do this. But you can kinda over water because the pot is helping the roots get lots of air

Damn, that Ghost Lady is awesome...now I'm kicking myself for slackin on the AISPES membership...I briefly thought 60 some odd plants was enough  !!!

Thanks for the advice on watering the smart pots nailingtoheaven. My first year with them and I'll gladly take all the advice I can get concerning them.

gnslngr my friend don't ever spend any time on the AISPES site looking at pictures unless you're wearing a bib or have a drool cup.

Just seen the Bengle nagas glad they came through for you Man! Been busy but my chillis are going great guns will post some pics up soon as they are in the greenhouse weather in the UK has been up and down at best.

Hey all! Been neglecting everything since the scoot arrived my apologies. Time for an update or two or three.

Yaotzin the Bengal Naga's were looking great! Sadly mother nature came through last night with some small hail. There was some damage but nothing life the previous years. And the strangest thing is most of the damage was limited to the Chinense plants! Figures doesn't it? Geez! I'm pretty sure they'll all survive.

Some are doing well. This is the first year I haven't pinched all buds on small plants. Like I said earlier I haven't been spending a lot of time with the plants and have just let them grow. Paid off in a few spots.

I have never had peppers in May. Freaking stoked!!

I'm still moving plants up into bigger containers, already finished two today. Two 7 Pots, one Brain Strain, seeds from Judy and one 7 Pot Chaguanas seeds from Beth.

I even have a pod or two on plants that haven't been outside! Just sitting in the kitchen by an east facing window. How cool is this?

A Takanotsume pepper plant.

Life is great!

Congrats on the early podage Patrick! I started pinching buds, but once they got put in the ground, it is just too time consuming to do so. I am sure that they will do better now that I am taking a much more hands off approach.

Can't wait to see some harvest snaps comin from ya!
