Is it too late to move them to a shadier location?
Or maybe rig up some shade cloth of some kind?
I think Shane or ? used cheesecloth with good
effect.  Might be worth it; there's a lot of growing
season left
I am going to try something.  Denniz sent me the Manzano and I dont wanna lose it

Hi Paul... playing "ketchup" today... It's nice to see some color in your chinenses and everything podding up. Shane was saying he had around 70 days from flower to maturity for his Manzanos. Is that your experience as well?

Sanarda said:
My Manzano and two Rocoto's are also in full sun and look horrible with no flowers or pods.  Lesson Learned.  Your pods look great BTW
Yup...cheese cloth. I have used it for years! Works great. A few clothes pins to hold it in place and for a few bucks you have some shade!

I have to look back at my records, but that sounds about right.

There you go. From the master himself!

Hey Paul-
Things are looking really NICE.I was looking at "shot gunned" leaves when mine were that size(the new shiny sharp vigorous looking up and comers that now know,IT IS THEIR TIME!)from white moths. Its one of my favorite times , when they've gathered strength, have enough roots and leaves to really get going.Your 7's are lookin gnarly  ...must take a lot attitude to get em to do that in your latitude!

...and remembered to wait til after dinner to check glog out :woohoo:
Have a good one-

Hey DJ, thanks for stopping by.  I'm not sure how much attitude
I'm mustering, but the 40 days of nice weather haven't hurt a bit!
It is fun to watch them really start to get it in gear.

The Sevens are getting huge.  I'll post a pic in a day or two!
Hope the La weather is treating you right, brother!

Okay.  Mishap of rather major proportions.  I lost about one-third of
my plants due to my own carelessness     Shows one never gets too
old to be stupid   :banghead:   Anyway, no need for condolences.  It was a mishap
of my own making and it is what it is, so here is the roll call of the
departed (Taps, please  )

Orange Rocoto x2
Wild Brazil OW
Costeno Amarillo
Mucho Nacho
Trin. Red Scotch Bonnet
Yellow Scotch Bonnet
Chocolate Scotch Bonnet
Goat's Weed (skyrocket specimen)
Giant White Hab, Pinch Top
Congo Trinidad Red  "      "
Congo Trin Red OW
Red Savina
Wild Texas Tepin OW
Yellow Aji
Manzano clone
Manzano OW

I still have 2/3 of my grow (the round one plants).  It was round two
and three plants and OW's that took the hit.  With that in mind, started
some new seeds yesterday with the idea of wintering over some of the
varieties that like the greenhouse in winter.  And a couple of annum
ornamentals, since they seem to OW well:

Orange Manzano (Shane)
Red Rocoto (Nando)
Orange Rocoto (Peppermania)
Yellow Aji (Peppergal)
Yellow Aji (Peruvian Market)
Yellow Aji bushy phenotype (Peruvian Market)
Nosegay (THSC)
Tomb Thumbs (THSC)
Yellow Jelly Beans (THSC)
Goat's Weed (Shane)
Goat's Weed second gen
Wild Texas Tepin (THSC)

So, we'll see what we'll see.  Some of these were varieties I was
unsuccessful with last year, so am giving them a second try at
germinating in the warm summer weather.

Front yard plants:

'Black Pearl' OW (THSC) ripening up a bit:

NuMex Twilight (CPI/Siliman) OW starting to color up nicely:

Chocolate Habanero at about 22" tall and 24" wide.  Just keeps
getting more awesome.  One of the healthiest plants I've
had:
_DSC0316a_zps4634efc0.jpg

And, it is starting to set pods:
_DSC0322a_zps1ea02dfa.jpg

The remaining Goat's Weed is doing great - growing
fast and entering flowering mode.  The ruler is 24" tall,
so the plant seems to be about 32-33" tall:

The top nodes of the GW:

Flowering nicely:

I'll get some more pics tomorrow.  Some nice pods developing
in the back yard grow of round one plants.  Until then, hope everyone
is happy and healthy!

No condolances (well plenty but you said not to have any). But I am very curious as to what happened???

The rest look great Paul ...can't wait to see some more pictures...

Did I send you any NTRs seeds?? If you want a prolific producer and good overwintered then I would make that a suggestion.

Picked up the wrong spray bottle.

Hey, Tristen.  You did send some of the NTRs; it's on my list for next season!

The plants that lived through Black Sunday are all doing great.
Very happy with what is going on.  Every plant has entered podding
phase, so now it's just the waiting game.

Cool Paul ... I am still none wiser as to what happened to them ;) :D. I promise I won't tell anyone
Check post #528 - forgot to highlight my insertion into your quote block.
Pepper plants do not like 2-4-D in the least little bit.

Ouch! At least it wasn't a total collapse... and what you're showing is looking good. Drive on Paul...
You're right, Rick.  The round one plants are really starting to get it on.
Hoping for another 8 weeks or more of good grow weather

Your grow (and glog) are over the top, buddy.  Last time I looked it was
heading for 90 pages!

What happened Paul ? Perennials will bounce back...
No bouncing back from this one, my friend.  The 2-4-D was on the plants
for over 14 hours.  The top 6-8" of each plant were just hanging straight
down,  I just couldn't stand to see them die a slow death, so I cut them all
down and put them in the yard debris barrel.  I can't even compost the
plants themselves because of the spray, and even if the plats bounced back,
I wouldn't want to eat the pods.   I'm wondering if I need to replace
all the soil - would be close to 100 gallons.  The active substance is not
absorbed through the roots, only through the leaves, so I'm hoping I can
replant in those containers without swapping out the soil.

Just one of those days, bud.  No fool like an old fool

Yeah that will do it ....good old 2-4-D.... So I assume peppers are considered a broadleaf then Paul ;) ?? That sucks bro ... At least it wasn't the lot. Where are theses other photos you promised anyway ?? :D

Evidently.  The directions say tomatoes are very sensitive to it.
And since peppers are Solanaceae (along with tomatoes, potatoes
and tobacco), I would assume the same goes for them, and they're
just talking about incidental overspray (2 parts per billion).  Since I
thought I was spraying kelp foliar, I made sure the plants got a good
coating.

I am uploading pics into my computer as we speak, my friend!

Man brother Paul . Sorry to hear about your mishap. I have had some insect issues take a few of mine and a bacterial wilt thing . Glad it only effected a small amount of your plants. Everything else looks very sweet and super healthy.

 Grow on my man!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about the 2-4-D, that's some bad stuff. I have two pump sprayers one for weeds around the garden perimeter and fruit tree bases (bermuda).

The one I use in the garden has GOOD STUFF written all over it.

But you just watch, I'll mess up at some point....

Thanks, Jamie!  Everything else is looking good, so I can't  stay mad for long!

Hope you got the bac wilt thing taken care of, doesn't sound good.

Yeah, my spray bottles were clearly labeled.  Doesn't do much good if one doesn't read it!

I guess if you garden long enough stuff happens.

Okay. Trippa, here you go.

Mostly green pods, but almost plants are underway, and some are
setting pods at a fast clip.  A few still have that yellow-y look, so I'm
giving them a little epsom and aspirin treatment.

Purple Flash (Bonnie's Plants).  Very EE like;

Cheers Paul!!
2-4-5-T is was the really nasty stuff ...apparently my dad used to come inside after spraying it and any plants or flowers inside used to be dead within a week. Mind you he is of the old breed ... Spray the weeds and forget about the safety aspects!!

Bump !!

Thanks, Tristen.  Those days were a bit different in many ways!

Trinidad Red SB (Andy).  Lost the top third to some herbivore a few days back.  Going

I'll post the last few later.  Hope everyone is well.

Looking great Paul!! Bonda and Bahamian look true to type ... Now I am hoping the TFM has some more atypical pods coming your way soon ?? Doesn't look like any of my pods off that plant that i can remember?? Doesn't look like any of the plants it was near though either so maybe just a random early shaped pod??
