PaulG 2014

Grow List 2014 - Many new varieties and a few repeaters.
This is the third year of my original three year plan to grow a slew of different
types to see what grows well here before settling on some consistent performers.
I'd love to grow some of the new varieties from this season again, and some more
of my favorites from 2012, but not enough space.  But I have seed for my favorites for
season 2015, so I have something to look forward to already!

Major goal for season 2014 - lay in a good supply of super hot powder!

Just a quick update on the wild Texas Tepins.  This one has the most ripe pods; all will have to go to the greenhouse when and if I need space for starts in party cups:

Happy New Year to you and your famiy!

Yeah, it was here in like 5 days!  In spite of the fact that the shipping
business just got plain crazy for the Christmas holiday!  I'll be gleaning
tips from you throughout the season!

Happy New Year!

Thanks, Jason, I didn't even notice it was a little different than the others!
Douglah or Choco Bhut, it should be awesome!  I will definitely powder the
Ga Black pods; what species is it?

Yeah, the year is just about toast, isn't it!
I'm guessing a annumm chinense cross. Bought from semillas.de as a chinense. But shows some annumm in growth. Multiply pods per node. Interesting plant. Heat on the low side too.
It's getting close to toasting time. :)

When do we get to see the Aerogarden in action Paul?

My mother-in-law has a small one but she just grows herbs. Growing peppers in an Aerogarden should be interesting.

If I could pass on any advice, I wouldn't let them stay in the Aerogarden until maturity if you plan on putting them in soil. I had a few cayenne plants in hydro all winter long last year. I transplanted them into soil and they never really did recover. They did live, but looked like crap and really didn't thrive all year. On the other hand, some chinense plants survived the transplant and did fine.

No likes available at the moment, Jeff

Thanks for the tip!  I'll probably start some seeds in the aerogarden
when I start my second round in the Jiffy pellets the first days of January.
Am stoked to see how it performs.  The other aero users on the forum
brought me over to the dark side   ;)

I would be willing to bet if the plants are moved out of the Aerogarden before they get too big they should do just fine, kind of like moving the clones to dirt. They should be fantastic for getting the plants up to speed. I'll be watching!

Have  great New Years Paul!

That's what I'm hoping, Scott.  I won't be using the aerogarden
to grow out plants, just to get them off to a good start.  There are
7 plant spaces, so I suppose a guy could do waves of starts in
succession starting with the longest grow season varieties.

Maybe I'll use it to start the toughest  varieties.  Will just have to
play around a bit.

Can't wait to see it.....this entire site will be greening big time by February 1.  Tons of hooks and patiently waitings :)
You're right, the number of plants will increase exponentially,
and probably the number of grow logs, too!  Patient waiting
makes me antsy!

Looking good Paul! Can't wait to see your results with the aerogarden. Hope you have a happy new years!
Thanks, Chris.  It will be fun getting to know the aerogarden a little.
Time to party!

Of course on the other hand all the starting and gardening could take people away from their computers and decrease the overall post rate. Suppose you veterans will have to let us know or just let time tell.

Happy new year Paul, may we all be safe going into this new year. Question Paul, where did you purchase the insulation at for your grow cabinet? Been looking for something like that at the local shops and haven't found anything yet...

I bought it at Home Depot.  It's just foam core board with a foil
covering on one side.; there are several kinds available.  This
particular one is called R-Max.  They cut a 4x8 sheet into
smaller sized pieces for me, but it is really easy to cut with a box
knife if you have a space to lay it down.  It comes in a variety of
thicknesses; mine is just 1/2".  Stc3248 used something similar
in his grow box, and so did HanbaneroHead.

Hope the new year is off to a good start for you, James.

Wow, thanks for turning me on to this. May close in my grow shelf with this. Normally I think the CFL's put out enough lumens but I think something reflective will help the lower leaves.

Paul, I thought I was in the wrong Glog when I didn't see your old icon :) The new one looks good on ya!

Great selection and start brother, didn't know you were on a 3 year Vision Quest to find the best grower for your area but great idea. Hope your grow is awesome this year.

Happy New Year!
