Great germination rates! I'm doing a better job keeping track of that this year.  I am tracking the number of seeds, not just cells.  We'll see.
I'm curious how the rates drop with time, but then I didn't keep track of the age of the seeds, so... yeah...

With yours - what do you think the cause is for the one variety that has the low rates?  Is it older or did you cook it warmer?  Just curious, since it really is an outlier at this point.  If you remove that one kind, your rates go up a bit.

Culling is always hard. I'm holding off till next month. Giving them a fighting chance to make the cut. I guess the hardest part is thinking that one of the ones that I cull will be the off the wall phenotype for that variety.  Looking great though Paul.

I think we are about done germinating here, except for the Aerogarden.
I guess a germination rate of near 90% isn't horrible   ;)

I'm pretty sure the Chocolate Bhut isn't going to pop another one.  I think
I just chose the wrong pod or picked the wrong seeds.  2/6 isn't a failure;
we'll see what happens going forward.

I may try a few more in the AG if nothing else happens by the weekend.

I hear you, Aaron.  Wish I had room for an industrial scale grow
I'd like to grow 4-6 of a single variety , but choosing 7-8
varieties is just too agonizing.

Sounds like fishing…the one that got away   ;)

I think we are done germinating in the Jiffy Plugs,
total time 3 weeks.  I still have the last chocolate
Bhut Jolokia  plug on top of my lights, but doubt
anything will happen.  I'll leave it until it gets moldy!

Final germination data here.

Final Jiffy Plug germination distribution here.

Another hook in the Aerogarden:
3 seeds per plug except Cabe Gendot, 2 seeds.
Cheiro Recife………………………………Stickman, 2nd generation………………………….……….1/17 x 1, 1/18 x 1, 1/19 x 1…………..100%
Lemon Drop………………………………..onefowl1………………………………………………………1/20 x 1……………………………………33%
Cabe Gendot……………………………….Trippa…………………………………………………………1/16 x 1……………………………………50%
Inca Lost……………………………………Peppermania 2012, 2nd generation
Charapita………………………………..…Stc3248, 2nd generation

Always loved your grow logs!

PaulG. How's the cloning master. Have you thought about grafting 3 in 1??

Haha, Denniz.  Always pushing the envelope, my friend!

I need to get my 1 in 1 technique down, first

Two week update of the seedlings

The grow shelf, for those who haven't seen it:

A little closer look.  Two cups per variety except for the BJ Chocolate.  The oldest are 20 days, the latest are 4 - 6 days along.

These are Tristen's Mystery Cross, F3.  No doubt about purple parentage here!
You can see a tiny late hooker in the cup on the left.  With that one, 84% showed
the purple trait:
_DSC2574a_zps845e2f42.jpg

The red Bhut Jolokia that somehow picked up a purple gene.  4/6 showed the trait.
The only other plant in the grow with the purple expression, and not far away, was Tristen's cross:

Beautiful. That purple jolokia will be one to watch.
Thanks, Carl.  Maybe something really good will happen!

Nice! What are you using for lighting?

Looks like they are coming along nicely.
Hey, Andy!  There are 2 - 2 x 4' T5HO 6500K fluorescent.
They are great; have made a quantum difference in the
beginning for the starts and pot-ups.

I'm digging watching your grow unit develop as well, my friend!

-------------------------------------------------
Not much to report, so thought I'd update some of  the greenhouse plants.
You can compare to the Jan. 1 pics here.

The light has made a big difference for them.  The Orange Manzanos, about 6"
tall, have forked and started to flower:
_DSC2576a_zps8830f3d7.jpg

_DSC2578a_zpsd01e6a4f.jpg

The second one has three branches:
_DSC2577a_zps47858a0a.jpg

This Aji amarillo has a great phenotype - should be a nice bushy, rather than tall, plant.
It has forked, as have the other three Aji Amarillos.  This seed, and Goliath's seed came
from a really fat pod on one of the bushy phenotype plants.  About 11" tall.  I should
mention that all of these plants came from bushy phenotype seeds:
_DSC2579a_zpsa5448fbe.jpg

This pair came from a fluorescent orange pod; they are about 11" high:
_DSC2580a_zps0da2e03c.jpg

The one on the left has forked twice and has four growing tops, now:
_DSC2581a_zpsd6510fe1.jpg

Goliath, from the fat pod, is now  about 18" tall.
It's forks are growing out quickly:
_DSC2582a_zps7f96ffac.jpg

The Fatali bon chi is showing signs of life.  There are several small
branches coming out the back side as well.
_DSC2575a_zpsdc766060.jpg

Looks like at least three pretty much toasted branches.
I'm going to leave them for the time being.

Very impressive Paul! I can tell this is going to be a fun grow log to compare growing practices with.  Your plants starts at just 20 days look amazing, and the greenhouse plants look like they are growing in the southern hemisphere not winter in the northwest USA.  Keep up the great gardening and will be following the glog daily for beautiful pictures of your plants.  Love the Bonchi.

You are kind, indeed, Cappy!  The T5HO lights have made a huge difference
in how the plants start off, and even in the greenhouse they really give the
plants a boost.  I'm sort of searching around for some 4' x 4 tube fixtures.
That would make the greenhouse southern hemi for sure!

Good growin' down your way!

Nice plants and photography!

Just keep doing what you're doing.
Thanks, Scott!  I just let mother nature and the camera do the work.
Can't take much credit for that   ;)

Exactly! I try to leave them the heck alone and just check on them from time to time. They seem to do so much better that way.

Keep it green!

Playing catch up out of the gate here.  Everything looks great, Paul.  All these great germination stats and green plant shots have me jonesing to get started.  Awesome package from Lourens.
