Pete's Pepper Progress - 2009 Season

Pete you're doing everything right! Look at those bushes and your Aji Amarillo is going to be eight feet tall before July!!

Congrats to you man.

Here is a yellow rocoto (seeds from Scoville) that I started about 8 weeks ago. Coming along nicely!

Think I'm going to transplant it from the gallon pot it is in now to a 5 gallon pot...

Rain and below normal temps for the past 10 days,,,going to be at or about June averages for the next 10 days which is low to mid 80's. Perfect for pepper growing...

Naga, at 3ft and starting to explode with flowers:

Had the wrong white balance setting on the digi cam that muted the greeness of the plants.

By the way, this is my first year using Pro-Mix Bx and I absolutely love it. It is fluffy loam that does not compact and drains extremely well. No imbedded ferts make it extremely versatile and allows you to control the feeding regimen.

Very nice Petey, is that Naga in a 7 gallon?

Thanks t. Yeah, the larger pots are 7 gallon and the smaller ones are 5. The nursery guy did mention that the actual capacity was somewhat under the stated volume.

Petey you are definitely on the right track as those plants look fabulous. Can't wait to see what you end up harvesting this season.

Put some color on the end of those stakes so you don't bend down and put your eye out. If you're tired or not paying attention, it can happen. I stick a flap of orange duct tape on mine.

That's brilliant bigt. I've been poked a couple of times already. Thanks for looking out for people.

Here a couple of shots from a few minutes ago...

Here in Philly it has been raining for what seems like 2 weeks...and the humidity has been unbelievable!

:hell:

Plants are looking prime Petey especially the Naga. Going by the expression on your face I'd say you're pretty tired of the rain. I'm right there with you, it's been doing the same thing here. Keep the faith old Sol will show up one of these days.

It is a pretty grim look, wouldn't you say...

I was trying to give the AJ "thinker" look but it doesn't seem like I pulled it off.:lol:

Old man sun showed his face this afternoon but more thunderstorms on the way tonite. Can't wait for this crap to clear out. We need some sun and heat here in Philly!

I hear you on the rain Pete. This is late April/early May weather we have been getting. Your plants don't seem to mind though. They are doing much better than mine. That naga is going to be a monster.
