music Post your guitar porn here!

You are so close. That inlay work is incredible. So is the wood work, in general. Should be awesome when done. What woods?

Neck is 3 piece maple/walnut/maple the body is maple, the fretboard is ebony. Everything except the fretboard came from local trees, the fretboard is from allied luthier.

Circa early 80's.

Sold the strat.

Kept the jacket.

It still fits.

Almost.

I didn't cut that for another 15 years. When I did it was down to about the middle of my back. I whacked it all off when I started managing the fishing lodge later on. Had to look all 'spectable n' sheeit.

I got 3 tweed amps and 5 tweed jackets.

Plenty o' tweed.

The strat always sounded thin to me as strats do and I always felt like I had to wrestle with it to play it.

Gibson's on the other hand, LP's & V's, just about play themselves.

I don't need a strat anyways.

Plenty of Stevie Way Wrongs out there all doin' up in they 'thang.

Typical Strats, and moreso typical teles, sound thin because of the OEM pickups, as I'm sure you know. Those P90s you have in that V embody fatness! Drop some hot single coils, stacked p'ups, or humbuckers, full sized or single-coil sized, and you have a phat Strat (or Tele). ;)

Nice.....

I'm home.

I wish I could afford some of that better gear, but here's my crap

Yep... that's a poor man's stack

And the Ibanez is my ripper. The Gibson MM sounds good and rich with the P90s. The Blues Driver pedal makes up for what the amp doesn't have... LOW END!

Yep. AX120, I believe. I bought that one in the early 2000s as well. I've had to re-solder the cable jack wires once, but other than that, not too bad for a $200 stick. Maybe one day I'll be able to get my Les Paul.... one day...

Mine is AX125 which is exactly the same thing except mine has the switch to drop down a step for playing in drop tunning. More a gimmick really. I never had mine set up to even use it.

I too had to re-solder the cable jack. Twice. It really isn't a bad guitar at all for the price.

I can't stand how when playing standing up though how the neck dips.... Oh well.

I have the same problem, that's why I cinch my strap up and wear it just below chest level to help out. But mostly I just sit down and play.... which is why I can't play a Flying V! The worst guitar I've ever felt for neck dip was the Rich Bitch. A buddy of mine had one... heavy headstock!

As far as the quick flip switch for switching to drop tuning, I can't imagine that it would actually hold tune when you flip the lever. Mine was horrible at staying in tune on the G string just from bending (Tool's Sober intro would kill the tuning every time). I eventually had to change my tuners. I put Planet Waves self-cutting, locking tuners on. BIG difference! I just ordered a set for my Gibson, too. That one needs help as well. But then again, it's a $300 Gibson... so the hardware isn't top line Gibson gear. But the P90s sound good. You just can't shred on the thing because it's a 1959 re-issue... weren't designed for much palm crunching and tremolo picking back then!

If you're like me and have an equally cheap amp ($500 Fender Deluxe 90), then the Blues Driver pedal will really help it out and give it more of a tube sound. If I change anything else, it will be my pickups... Maybe some EMGs

I've heard the same thing about the LPs. Plug it into a Marshall stack, and you are suddenly standing in Jimmy Page's shoes.... minus the money and fame..... and for me, talent.

You look like Kenny G on a 9-day crack binge.

Thank you Phil for liking one of my posts so I could see the awesomeness of the TB pics again, and thus heckle him. Hahaha

On another note if Robben Ford is coming your way in his latest tour you should absolutely go see him. His latest arrangement is great - stand up bass, Hammond organ, drum & trombone. Awesome.

He's playing an ES335 of course, but he busts out the SG for the thickness of tone.

It really, really makes me want an SG.

Old picture of me with my first acoustic. [It looks like I am eating something... I don't really remember. :) ] It is a Jasmine by Takamine. Cheap guitar, but it has a great sound and a ton of sentimental value. This guitar has taught many people how to play. My nephew has it right now...

This is my Mexican made Fender Strat. It has been through quite a bit, and is definitely starting to show some wear.

This is my Ibanez Acoustic. I play this one on occasion at church, but mainly around a camp fire, or in my living room.

This is a Galveston Classical that my wife bought me for Christmas a few years ago. Pretty inexpensive, but it is fun to play around on. I need to do some adjustments though.

This is my American Standard Telecaster. I love this guitar. It plays like butter. [Granted, I am not really sure what that means...]

Same guitar, but I changed the pickguard just to switch things up. This is how it looks now.

I also have an Ibanez electric that I am not too fond of... I bought it from one of my wife's friends as a favor, and she never bought it back... so I am stuck with it. I am not even going to post a picture.
