RocketMan's 2013 Glog; In The House!!

There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments." -- Janet Kilburn Phillips

I love that quote and it will try my best to remember it through this new grow. So, I'm going with only 18 varities this year as we're looking at moving to a larger house if not buying this summer and I really don't want to have to try and haul a ton of plants when we do. the ones I've selected are:

1. 7 Pot Jonah---------------------------- Pic 1
2. Aji Lemon------------------------------- romy6
3. Chili De Arbol Negro------------------ smokemaster via SocalChilihead
4. Datil-------------------------------------- Pic 1
5. Fatalii------------------------------------ Pic 1
6. Gochu----------------------------------- Stickman
7. Red Savania--------------------------- Pic 1
8. Chocolate Habanero----------------- Pic 1
9. West Indian Yellow Habanero------ Pic 1
10. Jalabanero---------------------------- SocalChilihead
11. Jalapeno------------------------------- frydad4
12. Douglah-------------------------------- Pic 1
13. Peruvian White Habanero---------- ????

Alot of them are ones i started last year that never grew beyond a certain point and I'm pretty sure that a lot of it was my new grower mistakes. Since I really want to try them I'm giving them a grow again. Once again, thanks to everyone that helped me getting started with gifts of seeds and to all on here thanks for leaving your incredable words of wisdom that we can all learn from.

Cheers to a bountiful grow this year.

Question is, what does 1.5 pounds of Habaneros, 1.5 pounds of Jalapeños and 5 pounds of Roma Tomatoes look like after 4 hours in the smoker and finishing up in the dehydrator look like?

The answer is

Now into the Ninja with following Shane's method with some Onion and Garlic powder and a bit of Sea Salt. Back later with te results

Wow Bill, looking like you had quite the weekend! My guys and I loved that Pumpkin Sauce as well, it went with EVERYTHING! With the amount of heat that poured in over the months, we had to try it all, and that bottle didnt last long :)

Our Captain came out one day after he bit into a piece of chicken that had someof the 'super' sauce on it and pretty much decreed that there must be some plain meat every time we cook from then on. Apparently, it wasn't he first time he bit into a piece of something and drained three boxes of milk to put out the fire! Anyways, we listened....for a while, then we opened the Pumpkin sauce. After we all tastes it, there goes the Captain outside to pour it all over his chicken. When we asked him about leaving some plain, he was like...I don't know what your talking about.

Well Shane, does that pass muster?

I changed it this time adding the tomatoes, garlic and onion powder and sea salt which actually makes it more like the sauce. Can't wait to try it :)

Great Story Matt, sounds like a Platoon Leader I had. That Pumpkin Sauce came out better than ever. Jamie has been asking me to make more every since he drained his bottle. Well sir, that package of peppers that I came back from Jamie's with are going to be the start of the next batch of Flaming Pumpkin.

Great job, I've never tried it with matoes ... should be wonderful!

Essentially they're smoked sun-dried tomatoes and man do they kick that powder up a notch. It was an accident that they're even in there though. I was making a batch of Smoked sun-dried tomatoes and they got over dried and brittle so i thought, why not throw them into the mix.

Half way to Friday :)

Well, last night we got a nice slow soaking kind of rain. We're defiantly into the rainy season now I'm just hoping for more of these slow soaking rains than the 5 minute torrential down pours we usually get. Either way, Ma Nature will you please just leave the flowers and bud on my plants so I can get more pods, Please and Thank you :)

Great looking powder blend Bill. I bet it'll be killer on potato salad this summer.

I hear ya on the heavy rains... we've been on a yo-yo loop between freeze and thaw this spring, and every time it switches from one to the other we get pounding downpours and electrical storms.

Ya dude, you definitely have the sauce mojo down.  I am right not on your smoked haba-peno kick. GOD I LOVE THAT STUFF!   It is literally going on everything right now, chili, burgers, lettuce wraps, beef and chicken tacos, you name it.  Great stuff man, great stuff.

I am seriously looking forward to seeing what new craziness you come up with next!

Rick, it has been awesome on everything even my hard boiled egg breakfast this morning. At first i thought I might have put too many of the tomatoes in but it's perfect.

Do it. make some!

Looks great! maybe I can get my wife more interested in powders..

So how do you go about drying the Maties?

They're smoked for 4 hours first and then very carefully, they'll be a bit juicy, moved to the dehydrator and dried till they're crisp all over, no soft parts left. then inot the Ninja and whizzed till a fine powder about 10 minutes.

I've been reading up on the AACT that a lot of growers are using and last night I picked up a dual port Aquarium pump some hose and a couple of air stones and this weekend I'm going to see if i can find the ingredients for a tea locally. The only one I'm thinking I might have a problem finding is the myco. I'll post up some pic's later after I have everything. after reading about it I'm excited to give this a shot.

Hey, it's Friday! have a great weekend y'all :)

Hey, it's Friday! have a great weekend y'all :)
If it comes out half as good as any of your fermented sauces, you’re in for some explosive growth ^_^ Have a great weekend back at ya north FL brethren!

PS don't forget to take some brew pis ^_^

I usually go with the 5 gallon brew kits from keep it simple organics (kisorganics.com). It is like 8 bucks plus shipping and I add in a bit of mycos from xtreme gardening. I actually just ordered a batch 2 days ago to feed everything in another week or two.

Either way, make sure to let us know what you do!

Some of this stuff I've seen at Lowes like Mushroom compost and Kelp or Fish emulsion. Unsulfered Molasses and some grass clippings is easy. I think I've seen some Guanos at Lowes too. The only thing I'm not sure of is where to find some Worm Castings and the mycos. I might have to go to the web for those but I'm hoping I can source them locally. Maybe at a hydro shop or something. I'll post up what I do and get some pics when I get it all together.

Now though, I'm waiting to see what the boss has for us for the Throwdown this weekend. ;)

Edit: Just found that Lowes has Espoma Bio Tone and it has Mycos in it. So I might go with some of that.
