Thanks for stopping by, and check back soon, I'm sure this season is bound to be interesting.

I am wondering about the heat level on the atomic starfish, as well. Also, the giant bhut, how does its heat compare to a normal bhut?

Well, I'm getting closer to finding out the heat level on the starfish... I've got the one that is now turning red.. That much closer...
To me, the heat on the giant bhut is comparable to other bhuts.
I decided to grow these for pepper powder production. Larger bhut, more powder.
I'm coming to find out that I'm liking 7 pots more than bhuts for flavor. Love the heat from them all...

On this episode of RoninGarden,

Pods...
Color change and pod production.
It's been a bit cooler here lately with a bit more cloud cover.
I think this has been helping pod production.

We'll start with the Atomic Starfish.
I've never eaten one before, so this has me itching...
So close, but yet so far...
One of the pods should be ready in the next day or two.
IMG_6453.jpg

Finally changing from orange to red..
IMG_6449.jpg

I love the shape of the pod as well as the way it ripens...
IMG_6451.jpg

The Giant Bhut has some pods that are showing some change in color.
IMG_6456.jpg

Here are some 7 Pot pods (CCN nursery plant)
IMG_6461.jpg

Devils Tongue.
No color on this one. Just showing good signs of growth.

I'll end this update with the Butch T#1.

Butch T #1:
This pod is not the typical "butch" shape, but this thing is just evil looking..
For being such a small plant, this guy has been podding up like mad..
If they all turn out looking like this one, I'll be a happy camper..
IMG_6468.jpg

IMG_6457.jpg

Can't wait to try one out..

Thanks for stopping by!
Until the next update....

Excellent pictures and great looking plant and pods. Like the overview of your garden as well :)
Thanks!

Today on RoninGarden,

I had my first victim pod yesterday.
The second largest pod on the Butch T #1 had a hole bitten/scraped into it.
I just hope whatever did this is burning in pepper hell at the moment.
IMG_6484.jpg

Crazy part of this whole episode is when I cut the pod off the plant, A grip of oil poured out the bug hole.
Even unripe, this pod had a punch that put my bhuts to shame.
Can't wait for them to fully ripen...

While on the Butch T #1...
Here is what the largest pod looked like this morning:
IMG_6526.jpg

IMG_6524.jpg

Days away from my first Butch T harvest..
Oh the waiting...

Here is some color change on the 7 Pot Yellow "brainy" pods:

The Giant Bhut has podded up nicely and is now ripening up:
IMG_6530.jpg

I'll end this update with the Giant Bhut and my garden security force.

Until the next update....

nice bhut patrol....great looking update with pod porn... glad to see all is well for you in colorado..

Thanks for stopping by KingD!

On this Thursday morning episode of RoninGarden,

Things are ripening in Colorado!
Color everywhere...

We'll start with the Giant Bhut Jolokia.
Pods aren't giant huge, but they are plentiful..
Most are showing color change to some degree..
IMG_6627.jpg

Next up is the Atomic Starfish.
I'll probably be harvesting the first pod tonight.
Finally ripe enough, now just to figure out what I'll be cooking it with...
IMG_6626.jpg

IMG_6622.jpg

Really looking forward to taste testing this pod...

Here is the Butch T#1 largest pod.
This thing keeps changing colors daily..
I'm hoping for weekend harvest on this pod..
IMG_6630.jpg

IMG_6629.jpg

I'll end this update with a few pics of the 7 Pot Yellow "Brainy" pods.
I only have one pod on this plant that looks like the typical 7 Pot.
All the rest have the brain look...

Thanks for stopping by!
Until the next update...

Thanks!
That's what I say every time I step into the garden.

On this mornings episode of RoninGrden,

I'll start off with the Friday harvest.
2 Roma tomatoes, 1 Atomic Starfish and 4 peter peppers:
IMG_6715.jpg

The Giant Bhut has a few pods that are almost ready to pull.
Looking more and more like a christmas tree..
IMG_6699.jpg

Definitely the gift that keeps on giving...

Here are some shots of the 7 pot plant with pods:
IMG_6712.jpg

IMG_6710.jpg

Here are some of the 7 Pot Yellow pods showing color change.
IMG_6706.jpg

IMG_6693.jpg

I'll end this update with some pics of the Butch T#1 plant.
Here is a view of the entire plant.
Kind of stringy and wiry compared to my other pepper plants...
Podding up like mad for a skinny little plant.
Approx 11-12" tall.
IMG_6704.jpg

Getting closer to harvesting a pod off this guy..

On this Sunday morning edition of RoninGarden,

Finally getting a good assortment.

IMG_6765.jpg

Here's the Giant Bhut.
A good view of the different pod variations possible on one plant..
IMG_6770.jpg

I'll end this morning update with a couple of the garden enforcement squad.

Great update, again.
I guess spiders love peppers as well, I have a lot of them on my plant too.

Is white habanero the same as habanero white bullet? I have the latter, but the pods are exactly the same

Thanks!
I'm not exactly sure.. But I think the bullet, and peruvian are all variations of the same plant.
I've seen other pics that show the pods being relatively similiar.
Good heat for such a small pod.
I'm in the process of drying all my White Habs to make a nice white hab salt.

On this pre-noon episode of RoninGarden,
Atomic starfish taste test.
First time growing this variety of pepper. The uniformity of the pods make this plant look crazy.
It is by far the tallest plant I have in the garden this year.
I actually gave away my first harvested pod, so I had to wait til I got another to find out how it tastes.
Here is the second pod to come off the plant:
IMG_6820.jpg

IMG_6826.jpg

Cut open:
IMG_6830.jpg

Very thick flesh. Not too many seeds.

I chopped up nice and fine and added to some chicken for a buritto.
IMG_6836.jpg

IMG_6837.jpg

The Atomic Starfish was sweet, but there is nothing Atomic about the Starfish.
I prefer peppers with some heat, and these to me are on the same level as bells and jalapenos.
I am going to have to dry a few out and see if there is a different taste when powdered.

This taste test was followed by a nice handful of raspberries from the garden.
IMG_6839.jpg

Next update I'll have some more pics of the brainy 7 pots ripening.

Thanks for stopping by!
Until the next update..

Nice looking Yellow pods!......the Starfish are quite similar to the Aji Dulce, sweet with a little background Hab flavor, I also grow the Aji Venezolano which is very mild but happens to find its way into the "Arroz con Pollo" that I occasionally make. Your chicken wrap looks tasty......I bet those giant Bhuts pack some heat...
Good luck with the rest of your season.

Greg

Thanks for stopping by Greg!
The starfish will be a great addition to some salsas and powders.
The bhuts have a great fruit flavor along with a tasty heat.

Did you try the scorpion yet?

I haven't had a chance to cook with it yet...
I did harvest my second pod off the Butch.. Which, with the first pod are drying in my ghetto dehydrator.
I did however do the finger taste when I cut it open..
Lets just say, even without the typical butch pod shape, this plant makes my bhuts taste like habs.
Amazing amount of heat.

On this morning episode of RoninGarden,

Start off with some bhut action.
Here are a few pods on the Giant Bhut #1:

IMG_7231.jpg

IMG_7230.jpg

Next up will be the Atomic Starfish.

IMG_7220.jpg

Now we'll go to the Butch T #1.
I have 3 Butch plants going in the garden.
So far this is the only one podding up at the moment.

IMG_7213.jpg

IMG_7212.jpg

IMG_7211.jpg

IMG_7210.jpg

They may not be the stereotypical scorpion pod shape, but the heat or should I say Fire they produce is unreal...
