Looks great to me, cool the see the black bag in action. If I didn't have the raised beds I would definitally consider going that route.

Hi chuck thanks for stopping by and the kind words. Cheers

Picked my first non bird violated pod off the hot rod serrano x maui purple.

Size and shape is reminiscent of a goats weed.

Initial taste is fruity serrano with almost no heat... then it builds and gets pretty hot. Mostly tongue and roof of the mouth burn. Just kept building and lasted for a good 10-15 min

Nice pics of the crosses. Everything is progressing nicely. I am going to try asparagus, best to buy seeds or do they sell roots or crowns or whatever they might be called?
Buy crowns if you can.  I bought 4 crowns and had loads of asparagus from the first year of planting.  Should be able to pick them up at a local garden centre pretty easily.  Mine like to be buried reasonably deep and a good dose of compost each year.

You can start from seed but it will take longer. In early spring you can order 2 year old crowns and that will get you to harvest sooner. Also they have varieties that are either all male or mostly male crowns and they produce better. Females put a lot of energy in making seeds that look like a small red marble when ripe. Johhnys seeds here sells some really high quality crowns in spring and you can order from their website.

Cheers

Plants look great! Really liking the purple ;)

Your garlic gets so much taller than mine here. When do you plant it? Mine goes in 9/15.

Keep it green!

Thank you sir. I usually plant in late October early November here depending on our fall weather. It's all about 4 ft tall right now and should start pushing out scapes soon. I leave a couple on and they go 6ft+ when they straighten out, looks pretty cool in the garden.
Cheers

You've definitely got it goin' on D! I love that your plants have set pods already. I forget... did you use the solar mulch last year too?
Thanks Rick I didn't use anything last year and paid for it with my back and pulling weeds. Before that I used fabric and the stuff is really crap. Solar mulch all the way from here on out. When transplanting I have been using a post hole digger and it's amazing how warm the soil gets even down 1 ft compared to the dirt with no solar mulch over it.

Cheers
