ThePepperGrowingMan's 2010 Grow Log

ThePepperGrowingMan's 2010 Grow Log

Put the seeds in the dirt today. Trying to get a total of about 30 plants across 9 types. Ordered all my seeds from pepperjoe.com this year. Assuming some will die.

Here's the list:
Hot Banana
Long Red Slim
Charleston Hot
Turkish Cayenne
Hot Caribbean
Atomic Starfish
Tabago Seasoning
Giant Jolokia
Scotch Bonnet

Here's where they will live (hopefully) over the next few months:

The larger plants on the right are my overwintered Jolokias. Grow On!

hey peppergrowingman the best way to clone that works for me is i use seed starter soil take the clone cut the bottom at a 45 degree angle and dip in clonex make sure when you put it in the soil it doesn't come off and cut all the leaves in half keep soil warm and humid i have mine in a seed starter with a high dome.and spray the leave twice a day.you should have root in about two weeks hope this helps.

Small harvest today:

Thanks for the tips hotpepperman. The ones i have now are in a bucket setup i bought from the local grow store. i think this winter i'm going to go dwc instead of dirt. seems so much easier, especially in the house.

Whoa, those are some crazy Bhut's and a nice harvest all around. Nice going! Peppers are not easy to clone. I've tried many different ways and always lose a lot. Now I'm just leaving the cuttings in a jar of water like I do with basil and tomatoes. It takes a little longer, but seems I get a better percentage.

I've found the same thing, although I think after a lot of trial and error I'm starting to dial it in. I think I've lost about 12 clones so far but the most recent look promising, and I finally have one showing roots.

Here's my setup:

Here's a shot of the sprayer inside. it comes on 3 times a day for about an hour and a half each time.

Here's the first sign of root life on one of my clones, took about 12 days:

and here's the new growth on the clone itself:

Think I have it down...the other 3 clones will tell the story.

looks like your clones are about ready to go into the ground soon. =D

good work!

Thanks franz!

I'm actually planning to take each clone and give it's own 5 gallon bucket DWC setup. I'll grow those all winter and then take clones from them in March/April 2010 and put them in dirt to get ready for the raised beds in May. These are all my first attempts at Hydro so it should be an interesting winter...

alrighty then!

Today's harvest. If the weather stays some decent I should get 3 or 4 more like this before the season's over. It's been a great growing season this year and the raised beds really worked out well.
