This was realllllly hard. I was down to Deathtosnails and frydad4 (and some really close runner-ups). I had to go with the best reinvention of the burger, not just tastebuds.

frydad4 - I believe you nailed the challenge. Looks like a double burger, those golden-brown gator patties almost look like beef. You made a special sauce and baked your own buns. The lime-squirted avocado added the acidity needed to cut the honey in the gator. Job well done. I've had fried gator bites before I can can imagine what this tastes like.

I'll accept all suspicious votes of people signing up to register just to vote for the throwdown! I ate all seven sliders kept going back for thirds and fourths during the game last evening. THP you asked more about my microwave process but was locked out before I could reply back to you. Yes the whoe fish fillet is place on a plate in the microwave for 5 minutes on high, cool and remove the skin and blood line and shredded the fish. From there I had a big mixing bowl of white lump wahoo meat that I treated like crab meat. Thanks for any and all votes, but the only one that really counted this time was my stomach. And yes I am alum of Clemson University, go Tigers.

This was a really hard one, first time I've voted on a throwdown and to be honest I was impressed with many of the entries but when it came down to it, it was a toss up between Texas Blues and Wicked Mojo. Both of them did an awesome job and those pictures had me drooling and wishing I could pull the food right out of the computer and chomp on it!

After some thought however I decided that my vote is going to Wicked Mojo. That Gator burger looked to die for. Good job! And good luck to everyone else!

Being new here and only had a chance to vote on a couple of TDs, this one was the toughest. SL you rocked and JayT's heart attack bacon and TB's chorizo were tough but I had to go with Paulky. If this was an ice cream throwdown and some one made lob and crab cakes I would have had to vote for them, I know that doesn't sound very objective but I can't help it. On the other hand Paulky's presentation was great and the burger looked like something you could pick up and eat civilly (not that I nor anyone else here would eat in a civilized manner). Hat's off to everybody it was great fun to follow, love this place.

Excuses are like AHs, but had I not been flying back and forth from CA to DC this weekend in three days I would have loved to get in on this one, though it would have been a feeble attempt based on these presentations. But, hopefully I'll be able to join and back up the other noobs in the smack for next month.

At first, I thought this was going to be some boring veggie burger throwdown. Man was I wrong. THAT WAS AWESOME!!! All of the entries were great. I was going to be a noob jumping in the water on this one and try something out. Glad I did not embarrass myself. I am in training now and hope to someday fly with the big dogs on this Throwdown. This is better than any cookbook.

Thanks THP! It was a double, and it was awesome. I was happy with how it turned out. I too have had fried alligator before, but this was my first foray into gator burger territory. 'preciate the kind words! When and why did you stop entering???

I'm down to wicked's gator burger, JT's bacon heart attack, DTS Cornbread Awesomeness, and Sum's greasy cuban.
If sum was, in fact, a greasy cuban he would have my vote for sure, but that's not the case.

I'll see how it plays out.
