WC 2010

Been wonderin what you were up to Huntsman... Ya know, the more I hear people complaining about the vuvuzelas, the more I realize it is probably something I should have on hand  Might have to order one to annoy my friends

Aw crap!

The first chance I get to contribute to this thread, and the bloody Banana Banana bunch get well and truly thrashed by Diego Forlan and a few pals!

South Africa never had a hope and were even worse than Italy, which took some doing, I assure you...!

Interesting to read your comments about the vuvuzela. Most of us whites really hated them before the WC, but they have somehow become a uniting factor that has brought the blacks and whites a little closer, around a sport which is traditionally a blacks-only zone, in SA at least.

I do miss the traditional singing and chanting though, and would not go to a game sans ear plugs, which I sell, along with a range of vuvuzelas, at my gift shop. Hey, when life provides lemons...!

Pretty nice, though, to watch three games daily at sensible hours. You blokes must be really dedicated or own decent recording devices!
You must be making a killing there Huntsman, I hope you stocked up well. The vuvuzelas don't bother me anymore but it's just not the same without the snging/chanting etc. We get matches here at 9:30pm, 12am and 4:30am so I'm missing out on a bit of sleep at the moment, although some games have proved not to be worth it :) I have a cousin in Australia, trying to get permanant residency, who spent the last 25 years living in SA and he tells me he's only ever been to one match as he didn't feel safe going. He reckons football/soccer is all black crowd and rugby all white.

Nice pictorial by the way Boutros....

We are an hour behind in the uk, I though SA were hard done by, Uruguay were never done diving anytime anyone went near them and as for sending off the African keeper, no wonder he protested, he went sliding in to stop a goal the guy jumped and was twisting in mid air and their feet briefly touched. It's cheating incidents in football that IMO need a video judge.
It wasn't a penalty

Oh my sainted aunt!!

I watched that first with the sound off, Jimmy, then switched on and nearly wet myself both times!!

Thanks, man!

Boutros, I think that really encapsulates the situation. If they blew when something meaningful happened, it would be welcomed, but the silly buggers never let up...

Hey, vuvus were the hottest item in town until a week ago, but temps have dropped to below freezing (yep, in Africa) and now beanies and scarves are flying out...! Heh heh! I love the World Cup.... :woohoo:

a great day for us at the world cup. We beat Japan and because of denmarks win over cameroon we are already in the next round

Unreal... Where was the foul/offsides on the US disallowed goal?!

I smell a rat..
There seems to be a lot of bad decisions by the refs, you'd think they'd be trained a bit better when so much is at stake. The ref in the Germany/Serbia match was trigger happy with his cards, Klose should never have been sent off, I think he flashed his cards 9 or 10 times. Our match with Ghana was a debacle, the ref didn't let the game play, I think he needs a new pea for his whistle. Kewell sent off for handball and some really dubious tackles not even carded, these muppets need to be more consistent. I think they're going for the golden whistle award.

Kaka is dismissed for unnecessary contact, when the overly physical Ivorians crash into him??! Insanity abounds, and for once it's not our government as fault!

Loved the double handball goal, too....

as for Italy's penalty...ha!

I loved the Ghana / Germany game - what a thriller!

Both teams deserve their place in the next round, though I'm sorry to see the end of the 'Roos, particularly after their convincing win over Serbia...Bummer.

Donovan confirmed his status as the finest US striker in typical fashion, being in the right place at the right time and finishing clinically. Well done, USA!

Hold thumbs for Italy, please lads (my team)...Unless they start playing football (soccer!) the Azzurri will lead the European collapse and return home by the weekend.

FORZA AZZURRI! :woohoo:

Sorry Huntsman but I was happy to see the Italians go out :woohoo: . It would have been nice to see South Africa get through in their own country.
