Cook up some white rice put into a Wide shallow pan about 1" deep .Put a wire barrier over to keep rodents out and cheese cloth or any porous cloth on top of that to keep dirt and bugs off, then go find a healthy system using your eyes and nose to feel out a microbe hot-spot. In this area you may seek out a particularly old, healthy oak or alder tree to collect mr fungi.
Collect leaf litter and soil from a foot beneath the ground, a bucket full (Bamboo is the best fungi) if you can find it .put it on top of your of your pan of rice over the wire and cloth. Keep it on the ground and in the shade, keep it moist not wet. let it set for 7 days peek at the rice you should find a colorful array of fungi growing on your rice. Remove the soil and leaf liter and discard. put the rice into a clean 5 gal bucket, see how much you have in the bucket mix 1 part of Raw sugar ( I use molasses) to 3 parts rice fill with water. I like to let it set for 8-10 days the warmer the better, all water you use should be non-chlorinated water strain your mix mix with water give to plants you can water or spray the leaves. Mix two tablespoons to the gal of water. HAPPY Growing Alex

Any Questions Please ask

Just to confirm this is a do it yourself Mycorrhizal fungi? I was looking to buy something with the stuff in it for my plants.

If you can do it this way then the Mycorrhizal fungi is common and exists everywhere? You just have to grow it a bit?

Friggin not been a good day too windy to do any gardening and the warriors save their worst performance of the season for the finals ... morons

And no germinations for the past 2-3 weeks :(

Answer to Megamoo= 1 yep its Mycorrhizal
2 Its Every where like you said just different kinds some is bad some is good
your making or growing the good stuff.
you can also grow lacto witch is what EM-1 is mostly and a good base for a lot of other stuff

How do you ascertain whether or not you have good or bad growth? You could introduce some nasty spores into your home/lungs/garden with this approach IMO.
Not saying it's not a viable option for some people but I have seen the result of bad pathogens and fungus spores in both garden and a person extremely close to me Almost died from a lung issue related to spores in a living space. Be careful and good luck.
On a personal note last night instead of moping about my lack of germination and loss of the warriors I channelled some positive energy into a seed soak :) Used up the last of my Hungarian black seeds which I still haven't had luck with and gave fatalii another round along with a few others. Hope I have some success this time around.

First let say i agree with you on the bad spores could happen, but this method is rice or greens only attracts the the better spores if you left it for a month then you would ac tract all kinds of rot. I wouldn't do it with meat ether. this is done out side its possible to gather all kind of stuff, system of recipes was developed by a doctor. NOT MEANT fOR HUMAN consumption. It has been used by the Korean and Philippine farming associations for a lot of years. and it works! Great Growing to all Alex
forgot to add that it would smell bad with bad spores or fungi

Trippa glad you found the energy to spur on. I used up the last of mine on the last lot of seeds and they seem to be doing good so far. No signs of bacteria, however the tomatoes in the hydro system got it real bad within a couple of days so Im guessing there are spores stuck in there somewhere even though I soaked it all. Perhaps it could be in the tubing which is harder to soak (i did run it for 24hrs with chlorine though but obviously that wouldn't of got the top part of the tube and just submersing it hasn't done the trick either.) I'm also thinking that since the clay balls are porous perhaps they are stuck in there too even though i soaked them also. So will get rid of both, test it with some more tomatoes if it works then I know that was the problem.

I love Spring.....

All the garden beds are topped up, and ready for action. The Asian Birdseye have sprouted new growth already, should be a bumper season for them this year. I have about 35 odd plants in pots, another 60 in jiffy pellets.

Since I travel pretty much every week, the magic happens on the weekend with all the potting of sprouted seeds, watering of all the plants, and just admiring the new growth on all the plants out the front.

Damn wish I had your weather Candice, I loved the good weather in Perth during the week!

Spring is here for sure in Perth. It's been awesome weather. I've got so much garden stuff to do, start vege seeds, refresh raised beds, assemble retic but been too busy.

I will soak my last lot of chilli seeds tonight. Done all my chinenses already, this lot will be mostly annums.
It's time for the plants to take off in the sun.

Yeah it's great atm, not that I could enjoy it much as I've been sick all week but you sure wouldn't have wanted our summer last year, way too hot and plants aborting flowers. Lets hope this season is much nicer.

Yeah the weather has been great here in perth, but I didn't want to mention it since others have had it bad recently. No reason to rub it in.
I've had bad luck with fatalii, TS BT and czech blacks too. As well as the kempsey red.
But I have at least 2 of everything I planted even though it took sometimes 8 seeds to get the two.
I moved the four april planted jalapenos, habaneros and cayennes from pots into the ground out the backyard. I'll see how they do, I've done no prep in the ground execpt turn it over, aerate it and a bit of blood and bone, but the parsleys there are monsters. If they go well I might plant some of my new seedlings in that area.
What is the point of a raised garden bed anyway BTW? why not just improve the soil you're planting in? Cheaper than building the bed and buying soil.

It's just easier building raised beds if you have a lot of plants. Preparing new beds is pretty heavy work.. Especially if your grounds are like mine.. Rocky, clay laden.

I figured that was the reason. The ground in perth is light sand, biggest problem is hydrophobic topsoil. Drainage not a problem unless its compacted while wet.
So I guess I can get away without a raised bed and just plant straight in the ground.

Ive only got 2 of my Trinidad Scorpion seeds that survived winter germination...both have 4 leaves.
Got seeds into the Jiffy pellets now... just waiting for germination...

Come to think of it where is Gassy?
Being haphazard.... ;)

Been busy as lately but getting back in the game as we speak. Finally got around to some long-LONG-overdue pot-ups yesterday and will hopefully have time to do the rest this arvo.

Starting to see a few pods here and there too so will try and get some pics up later.

Now if only spring would hurry up and start getting warmer already.....!
