Mine are ummm ok i guess, considering i am trying out a new soil blend and it's colder than Gillards spirit.
Will post pics tomorrow if i remember. I am getting bombed tonight because SCREW YOU FLU!

Already got the psudos and cocaine ooops i mean codiene. :high:
Codiene is sweeeeeet. :D

The buzz, ooops, I mean the "pain-relieving effect" don't last long enough though.....

Heres the plan: Lets get him whilst he's drugged up tonight and then get the address off him of where his plants are going at his dads work then when they are nice and healthy and he has lost his memory of tonight we can take them to replace the Nova curse that he has put on ours ;)
Sounds like a plan!

(Of course, if I am to partake, I should probably make sure my mind isn't in the same state as his, shouldn't I....?)

i used to be a dental nurse and we would get heaps of samples of panadeine to give to patients but there would never be enough left for them  great stuff

No kidding? My dentist used to load me up on the stuff! Not only the free samples you speak of, but also prescriptions for the stronger "forte" stuff!

Try and get it from a doctor and they send you away telling you to just get some panadol or nurofen! :mope:

Oh how I used to love going to the dentist.....

yeah if you have a few it makes fridays go a lot faster!
Yep no one wants to give it to you. Whilst I was in hospital having my baby I sent my partner to the chemist to get me some for home when I come out because of the pain from a caeserian and he rang me when he was there saying that the chemist didn't really want to sell it because I would be breastfeeding and the baby would get it. Hell I was on worse in the hospital with a pethadine drip that I could push whenever I wanted!

Oh btw I hardly pushed the button and I didn't even take a panadol whilst pregnant in case that previous post makes me sound like a bad mum! Just saying that no one wants to sell it no matter how much pain you are in

Try and tell that to turkeys. I have to give some credit to my 2 year old plants, they've survived 5 defoliatings and uprootings over a 3 week period.

As for your situation, I have my seedlings outside and until they're strong enough to survive the pelting rain here, I place an old window over them.

RIP seedlings.

That sucks Gas.. :-/
I was raging too hard to see your post before, lol.
Had to vent and go have a beer!

I used to know someone who'd crush up packets of panadeine and distill the codeine out. So from a packet of panadeine extra he would get a little cup full of 50 ml of concentrated codeine. Because he'd developed such a tolerance for drugs he would knock it back and be happy and dopey for a few hours then normal again.

Everyone in this thread seems to be having a really bad season but at least you have an idea of what the problem is.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, (probably everything!) All my plants are growing really slowly or going backwards. Despite several days of great weather my older potted up plants are starting to go a bit yellow and they haven't gotten bigger at all.

I've had excellent germination rates but once they get a few leaves its like they're trying to piss uphill. I've read so much on the right conditions and feeding watering etc and I don't think I'm doing anything wrong but they are not happy. Driving me a bit mad. :banghead:
Just started another big lot of seeds in jiffys last night, hope I can get it all sorted.

Would you grow all your seeds?
Say if you planted enough, like have at least 2 plants of everything you wanted, sometimes 3 or 4, ie more than you can plant in decent sized pots or find a spot in the ground for, would you just plant the rest of the seeds anyway?
Most of my plants are seeds bought from THSC, and bought in quantities of 10. I've probably used 6 seeds already to get 2-4 seedlings.

So I've got a few seeds left over, but nowhere to put them really decent if they sprouted. Is it worth hanging on to them for next year, or would it be better to plant the lot, just to cover if the existing plants died.

Even if 2 of the remaining seeds sprouted though, they'd have to go in small pots or crappy buckets, but they should still pod right? So I shouldn't need any left over seeds for next spring anyway if I just gambled and planted all the seeds?

I don't know whether I should go all out and have more plants I have a home for but obviously increase my chances of fresh seed next year, or save them for insurance nest year in case I don't get much production this summer. If I go all out, they won't be all in decent sized pots though, that may affect podding and new seed availability.

I don't think it is a good idea to crowd your plants just because you have left over seeds. Seeds can stay viable for years, and a plant that has to fight for space and resources isn't going to produce as much or as well.

Also you might have a disaster and have all your growing plants wiped out early enough in the season to resow.

You can always trade those seeds in the off season for other varieties from people in the northern hemisphere who have just harvested their seeds.

I have lots of seeds I won't be planting this year. They don't take up much space.

I don't mean to crowd any plants, just stick them in buckets or 5L pots instead of in the ground or in 18L pots. There's not many seeds left, some 2 seeds left, some 4.
Most of them weren't easy to sprout either, eg in an earlier conversation in this thread, fast sprouting happened with fresh from USA seeds. Tortuous germination from the seeds I bought from australia which may be already a year old, next year those seeds, germination may even be worse. I'm keeping the fresh USA seeds without a doubt, just pondering what to do with the older australian seeds that were a PITA to germinate and may be even harder next year. Better to grow what I can from them (bearing in mind not a high germination percentage from half of them anyway), and hope for more fresh seeds from any plant that survives and pods?

I mean what if my only 2 'X' chillies outside succumb to something, but there's already 2 seedlings 1 month old inside on the window sill because I planted all my seeds? Decisions decisions.

Yeah I remember your germination troubles. I suppose I'm coming from the postition where I can make more plants than space to put them, so I have to use restraint.

If you only have a few more seeds then sure plant them out but remember that a smaller container will limit the size and yield of a plant. If you plant them as insurance and they aren't needed you could give them away as presents to family

You could use the remaining seeds in a germination experiment. Try every method you haven't yet and you might hit upon something.

Personally I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all my leftover seed stock. I want to try and use it up in some way because I know I'll buy new different varieties next season and the old ones won't be used.

I blame this thread for passing around bad luck!JJ. Anyone got any good plants happening apart from JR?
How are yours Nova?
What's the biggest plant anyone has got from growing from seed this season?

I'll post some pics when I get home from a week in Sydney, I have 18 Chinense in a garage tent that are looking real good right now.

Even the Cacao plants that I thought were dying a slow death have sprung to life due to the pick up in weather.

What's even more crazy is people go to these lengths or worse, pop 80 nurofen+ and melt their insides.
Don't people realise you can get like 1Kg seeds for about $5? That would be one hell of a poppy field.

I agree with what megamoo is saying.
Plus if something is going to go wrong it the likelihood is it would probably happen to all of your plants not just a select one.
I do the opposite and save a few seed for insurance.
Also unless you are isolating your plants the seeds that you will be saving from them may be cross pollinated so you are prob better off buying fresh seed the following season.
