    Black Tepin?

yup, they got a tan. They'll turn red eventually. Just don't let the birds get to them like they've been getting to mine. :tear:

    Neem Oil Extract

Leaf footed 1st instars (<5 days old), I seek them out and kill with vengence. Dawn is usually enough to kill them in the first two stages. After that, simple green or neem + dawn. If your neighbors have fruit trees (apple, pomegranates, peaches, pears, etc) they'll thank you for the work ;)

    So. California Growers (Question)

i've been able to overwinter outside, but the last few years have been fairly mild. I think last winter, it hit 32 once or twice and no frost. Year before that, I dont think it hit 32 at all, also no real frost, maybe only on the roof of my garage, nothing at ground level. In fact, last year my...

    King Taco Red Sauce Recipe

King Taco isn't the best by far, you do know what you'll get. I work near BP, live between ELA and Pas, but I rarely go. I don't recall the red sauce, it doesn't make that much of an impression on me, but I don't drench my taco. I like to taste the meat and how well it's done. plenty of better...

    pests Got Bugs !

looks like a leaf footed bug (species unknown)... very similar to the ones I see. sub adult instar? don't know if they cause that type of damage, they haven't in mine. The ones I have are drilling into the pods and then either get mold on the inside when i cut them open or I get a soft rotting...

pod Supposed to be a Bhut Jolokia, but...

Yeah, they do. They're supposed to be very hot, but I've had hotter Nagas. I think you could get a hotter seed stock from another supplier.

pod Supposed to be a Bhut Jolokia, but...

I've already harvested from my tree, and the heat dropped most of the other ones. Here are some pods from the TWF "Naga morich" bush that I started drying. The more pointed ones are at the bottom of the oven, but you get the idea.

pod Supposed to be a Bhut Jolokia, but...

First post is a Naga Morich (or some open cross), mine have almost the same shape, smooth skin and pod size. The seeds were leftover from the ones my friend ordered from Trade Winds and the baggie said Naga Morich.

have a good way to rid of squash bugs

i hope yours isn't like mine, I just sprayed into a mass of vines and a horde crawled out. I was actually quite disgusted at how many there were hidden in that crevice. Like a baad horror movie scene.. at least it wasn't those shiny black roaches. There were quite a few stink bugs mixed in there...

    pests Bug ID

+1 leaf footed nymphs. The adults are all over my pomegranates and the juveniles are all over my winter melon vines, which they've decimated. I've lost count of how many i've smashed, sucked into the dry vac or sprayed simple green on.

    trying to grow lychee

Have one from seed in the front yard, spend 2.5yrs stunted in 3 gal pot due to lack of space. I removed some bird of paradise and it went in the ground last October. It's almost 4' tall and should hit 5' by the end of the year, and i'm hoping for something in a year or two. If your seed wasn't...
