I got mine in 2013 form a member here who got them dirrectly from the Jamacian MOA. I was not overly impressed with the flavour either. They were howerver really BIG. It is a really good all around pepper to cook with.
those pics look great. Habs aren'y as hot as some peppers, but they have a small creeping burn that adds ups really fast that can really screw you up if your not carefull.
I don't know how to account for the taste, but the coloration is a matter of science. Another explanation could be those two pods got more sunshine than the rest of the plant.
With plants grown in soil I know plenty of people who gently work/break the roots apart when they are transplanted and they come out fine. That said, I think that method only would work early on in the plants life cycle.
