I built one of these at the beginning of the season and it has been working great. Peppers are the easiest / quickest of all the plants I have tried.
So far I have successfully cloned:
-every pepper I have tried
-tomato
-edible fig
-key lime
-crepe myrtle
-bamboo (clumpers only)
-ficus benjamina...
Might be too fast, I use a computer fan and it almost on the lowest setting. I think a hard drive would throw the magnet in no time. I built one of these style http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/show-us-your-diy-stir-plate-228400/ and have been using it for two years with no problems.
Unless you sell by volume.
I think that pdf may be old, it mentions jellies which as of 2011 are covered under the cottage food law.

What is the best media for pouches. I was planning on using an 80/20 coco/perlite, they're going to be drip watered and manually fed. I've been having great results with that mix so far in my vertical towers

Once you outgrow the the stand on the ground and want a higher up stand you can still use the burner. My stand has my original Bayou classic burner mounted to it and it still works great.
That's how it starts... Last year I did an extract in a tamale pot, fast forward to a year later and I have a ten gallon rims system, keggerator , a dedicated fermentation fridge, a lot less money, and a beer belly. But it is fun and delicious.
So is it too late to join? wish I would've seen this sooner I've been planning Bonchis for this year and have a seed tray full of starters. I'm mainly focusing on the columbian black.
