Well THP, its that time of the year again. I've been anxiously awaiting to give life to these seeds that we all cherish so much. This year I'm gonna focus most of my grow towards Scotch Bonnets, with 14 different strains. Also have a few Supers and 7's with a few others as well. I still have 3 plants that have been overwintering and still doing good after another cutback and a bonide treatment for aphids. Starting my glog early although I'm getting a late start on the grow.... Moving pretty soon from Okinawa back to the States so I can't start until mid may at the earliest.... Hello everyone. Wasn't going to do a grow log this year, but then thought maybe someone could learn from my mistakes. ;o( So here we go. last year I started my plants mid January and paid the price with mr frost, it was difficult watching everyone starting their plants. Hi all! Sorry it's been so long since posting.....i keep meaning to, but then get sidetracked by something or other...but i thought i'd better start a glog for this year before i become sidetracked again!! Sorry there's no pics as of yet, but they will follow in the next day or 2! OK...... Well, yes I have started pepper seedlings. A bit late and slow to report here, but no worries, Sprouts are under lights. I sowed a lot of seeds on 2/15. :) Pretty happy with overall germination so far, except for some of the wilds. I'm happy I have 3 Tovarii plants doing well though! Chris

Hey THP. Well 2013 is upon us, time to start growing! I picked 27 varieties to take up the bulk of my garden space. Mostly supers but also a couple cool varieties that aren't so hot. Anyway, I soaked my seeds in a weak herbal tea blend for 24 hours, rinsed them and they are now resting comfortably in my germination tank. I'm trying cotton make-up removal pads to keep them moist instead of paper towels. They seem to work great! My tank consists of a plastic storage bin filled with water and a fish tank heater. The heater can take a little playing with to get the temps just right but once I find the sweet spot its perfectly constant. I then float my seeds in condiment cups on the warm water. It's really works. I did have a few hiccups...

So,I may as well grow them, eh? I started back gardening last year, but I left it to my co-gardener mostly to come up with pepper plants. We had some Bells, and Cayenne, a Carrot pepper, a black Jap, Hungarian sweet, maybe a Bullnose, Then I bought a 4 pack each of Anaheims and Jimmy Nardellos. I set out a little Shoshito start in July and it had a lot of fruit considering. Nothing here to write home about. The Jimmy's did ok. 2 of the Anaheims weren't true (and a cow at half of one of them), one did ok. The last one I planted in a new asparagus bed and the first week some sucky bug drilled it right in forehead and wilted the top. I started to pull it out, but thought, "no harm to leave it to see what would happen". I pinched the wilt...

Hi all. This is my first year growing peppers, started with only 2 plants, and that quickly grew to more lol. Only have 6 plants at the moment due to lack of space, but we'll be looking for a new place in the new year, so hopefully will have a yard available soon! This a bit early for me to start a log , not much to say or show. But the weather is less than I'd like to see. There is the possibility that there will be no cows here next year and the pastures will be made into corn fields. This would mean the barn lot will be free and empty. Hello everyone, I'm new here and this is my first grow log. This is my first year gardening in general and I have an awesome garden going right now, but this topic will focus on hot pepper seeds that were given to be by user megahot (thanks again!). I am aware that it is too late in the season to start seeds and grow plants outdoors. I plan on germinating the seeds outdoors and allowing them to grow for a little while, then I will move them indoors under this light. I just started my first jalapeno plant. put in the seeds yesterday. using general purpose vegetable miracle grow and seed starting store-bought potting soil in a 4" wide plastic pot with bottom-feed tray. any advice? remember i am new at all this, just starting to look into hydroponics, and plan on starting a hydro system. any fertilizer/ph/watering schedule/ temp/ nutrient/food advice would be greatly appreciated. im very excited to see how my first yeild turns out. i am thinking i might start my next few seeds on a wet tissue to let the seeds burst, and then plant the successful sprouters, and i will be keeping the seeds/plants growing in the same room as my reptiles, which is kept at approx 70-85*F ambient temperature, then moving...

So this is a little late in the year to start a glog, but what the heck, better late than never. Last week I picked a few plants to take inside over the winter and I started a bunch of new seedlings that seem to be doing great. Here we have a Hot paper lantern, and orange hab and two jalapenos. They were the only ones that made the cut to get taken to the new grow room. The paper lantern is a favorite because it is as hot as the orange hab, but without that hab flavor that I am not a huge fan of. I guess the only real reason the orange hab is here is if I decide to make a hot sauce over the winter and need a citrus tasting pepper. Well well well. Here we are again folks. Spent the last couple days getting everything all set up how i would like it to be (heat mat temps, lights hanging in right position, and the never ending task of finalizing a grow list. But i think ive done it...lol. i will be using a hydrofarm 4ft, 6 bulb, T5 fixture along with a heat mat set to88 F. I did not soak seeds overnight as i did last season so ill see if it makes a difference. Im putting litt. OK, so I finally have the 16 plants I can fit in my growspace, so here's what it looks like. These are all at staggered stages of growth for now, but only by a few weeks at most, so once the most recent seedlings catch up, it should look more uniform. Once again, my grow is at my dad's place 20-25 min away from my home, so I only see my plants once a week due to 40 hours/week of work in another county, and having a wife and 6 year-old here at home. Hopefully I won't get swamped by life during harvest season again and let this glog go neglected like last year's did. Here's the start on my grow log. Well no pods yet but I have to start somewhere, and away we go! The seeds in the containers are all c.chinense. They were dunked in a germinating solution for an over-nighter on December 1st. This was the first phase of the germination process with plantings happening every 2 weeks through the month of January. The annum species and the mild/medium strains will get planted late Jan through early Feb. Most of these are "Super-hots. Here's a shot from today, things are looking up and up. Well here we go again!! I'm finally starting to slow down a bit with work so I can start to concentrate more on growing some peppers. Cannot wait. Well I managed to totally ignore my grow this past year. Had some great harvest of some great types but didn't have a lot of time to get pictures up and stuff like that. 2013 will probably be more of the same with a daughter due at the end of Feb but I will try and keep it updated. Got a devil rib pod sent to me and it tasted like grapes to me, so i put some seeds in dirt right away and now they popped up! They will spend the next 6-7 months or so inside under MH and or CFL light, growing in coco fed with Aqua canna vega untill outdoor temps allow me to plant them in the poly tunnel!

After the recent passing of my best friend and grow partner I almost decided not to grow anything this year but after much thought decided just this past weekend to drop some seeds and go forward with the season. I then wasn't sure I was going to keep a GLOG because of how busy things get, last year I struggled to keep up with it and at some point let it go altogether. Like my season I decided to go forward with a GLOG as well but will probability not update it as often.
