    Flowers falling off

OK... some of my plants survived from last year. Namely: 3 fatalis, 2 caribbean reds, 1 orange hab and 1 peruvian rainbow. The problem is that flowers have grown, but they wilt and fall off. Plants look healthy. Weather temps have been around 80 degrees in the last few days. I water once...

    seeds Seed Viability

I have a couple of questions for the chile sages: 1. I currently have a large amount of last year's crop in my freezer. Will the seeds of these peppers be viable? 2. If I buy dried pods at the market, will these seeds be viable?

    health Something is wrong, officer...

Well, I don't know what to think... I have been checking my germination station day and night and nothing. It now has been 10 days since planting time and not one has come up. I would account this for normal except that mold has developed in some of the tray cells. Could it be that my seeds...

    A Guatemalan Grow Log

OK, so I got my new hot house from Hydrofarm and I have to say I am pretty excited. They were so nice they even sent me some free coco plugs. So, this last saturday I planted 72 seeds: 15 Bhut Jolokia (courtesy of Talas) 15 Naga Morich (I can't remember who sent these to me) 18 Dorset...

    Two Different Chiltepes

Ok... Im sure all of you know what a chiltepe is. I have been paying closer attention to chiltepe bushes that I come across. Yesterday I encountered a wild chiltepe bush on the street and now I can compare it with the chiltepes from the bush in my office. The two peppers are completely...

Two different Fatali colors from same seed

OK... here's the deal. I bought Fatali seeds at www.tradewindsfruit.com and the germination success has been quite good. Now, after my fatalis started fruiting I noticed that half of them had a different color when ripe (I have 6 plants). Some of my Fatalis are yellow and the other half are...

    Death from Ripe Pods?

I have one doubt, that may be cleared in this forum. Some of my larger plants produced quite well and then just turned yellow and died. No amount of epsom salt and other care could save them. They just gave up and died. Coincidentally, on those plants, I left the pods on the plant until they...

    Importance of Location in Flavor

I was wondering... as you know everything tastes different depending on where it's grown. Many factors affect this: quality of soil, altitude, weather, etc. My main example is coffee. Coffee from the exact same kind of plant will taste completely different if raised in Ethiopia rather than...

    Problem after fruiting

Hello my friends! My plants have been acting out lately. It seems that after they fruit they start to turn yellow and lose vitality. Could this be related to nutrients? What should I give them after they have been fully harvested? It seems that I am going through problem after problem...

    High Volume Blending

Once again I turn to my expert friends at THP. I have been wondering how do you guys blend big amounts of hot sauce? DO you use a special industrial blender, or just do a lot of small batches and then combine? I am currently using a BlendTec Conossieur for this, but at 64 ounce batches it...

    pests Unkown Pest

I have some problems with an unkwont type of bug. They are not really that small, about the size of a small spider. They are black, six legged insects that have little spikes on their backs. They tend to concentrate in groups on places where the stems divide. Tehy also seem to be looked...

    Blasphemy!!!

Ok, here's the deal. A couple of days ago, the gardener that works in the offices I work at discovered a huge chiltepe tree. The thing is about 9 feet high in the highest branch. This tree is like no other chiltepe tree I have seen. It is full of life and loaded with tiny fiery black pods...

    Lime Juice

I love to use lime juice in my sauces. I do have the problem that it tends to make my sauces bitter if time passes. Does anyone have this same problem and how do you solve it? If I have it right it is because the juice oxidizes. Correct me if Im wrong. Thanks!!

    Biggest Pepper Tree/Bush?

What is the biggest pepper plant you have come across? This sunday I made another discovery in a lime grove in my family's plantation. In between the lime trees there was the biggest pepper plant I have ever seen. That thing was taller than I am (1.78 meters) and had hundreds of the little...
