music any metal heads on thp?

I just finished watching Metal Evolution. Huge flashbacks there. The episode on hair metal bands is hilarious, and the grunge episode is funny when the people being interviewed slag each other off. I recommend this to all metal heads out there!

I saw someone say that a Christian metal band was hard to imagine.... check these guys out....

The Navy Seals liked them so much, they adopted their insignia and wore it on their uniforms, according to a ST6 member

After Metallica bitched about their music being used to "torture" detainees, Demon Hunter sent the SEALS all kinds of gear... stickers, patches, CDs..... pretty friggin' cool, if you ask me

Thats pretty cool for "Christian" metal....but kinda odd considering. The only problem I have is that they sound like all the other metal bands out there like Pantera.

I am a fan of Scandinavian/European bands like Gorgoroth, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Katatonia, etc. Check out www.blackmetalradio.com if you're into that scene but its a lot of barking metal..and feel like kicking a baby. (Not that I advocate infant violence or anything like that but you'll understand if you listen to it LOL)

Sepultura is awesome and has a lot of awesome tracts that go way beyond metal, kinda like how Opeth does a lot of experimenting.

Yep... that's how I know I'm getting old. I put away all of my old Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Slayer, etc cassettes and started breaking out the Pink Floyd.

I was always trying to find the next most extreme when I was younger and progressing through the metal world. I guess it got to a point where it was all starting to turn into a noisy mess (Deicide), so then I got away from shred/thrash/core and started hunting for melody. Something to be said about good old fashioned melody in music.... And a good blues track that gets into your bones

thrash, black, grind, post-metal, doom, and any combination of those.

Some examples

Mercyful Fate
Slayer
Sodom
Kreator
Immortal
Aura Noir
Glorior Belli
Tombs
Runemagick
Terrorizer
Ghoul
Isis
The Atlas Moth
Carpathian Forest
Enslaved
Entombed
Nihilist

...I could go on and on

any of Dimmu's old stuff done in Norwegian is great.  For All Tid and Stormblåst are incredible yet simple albums.  Love it.

thats for sure some metal! the guitarist his name was chuck something died of cancer? a few years back?

this is what the fuct im talking about!
Saw them at a festival in Belguim in the early '90s - they melted my face off.

Metalhead here as well. I like most types, don't have a specific favourite sub-genre. Some of my fave bands- Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Dethklok, Arch Enemy and Mudvayne.

Effin "a" man! I was privileged enough to run around with dime since i was 15.
He would take me to most of the metal shows that came into town to meet the bands and of course party backstage. Didn't do me any good in the long run But I still have yet to meet a man with a heart half as big as his was

Metalhead here too!!!
I like a lot thrash (technical ones too), true epic metal too (like Manilla Road), some doom metal (Candleass, Black Sabbath Ozzy era), some power/speed. Also death metal.
Recently i'm hearing brutal techno death.

Some good little known groups to check:

Realm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yM47vz9JDGY really really good speed/thrash, tecnical but perfectly listenable
Ripping Corpse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxZiGHy7Bic Ultra cool and violent techno thrash/death, It's unbelievable they are unknown. Their only album is a masterpiece!
Section Brain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5asNuEx-1XU heard only 2 songs but seems awesome
Viraemia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etc0RWle96w if you like uber technical extremely violent brutal death . For some reasons it's litenable after a while.

Oh, if you are into very heavy, strange, technical death metal BE SURE TO CHECK THIS and listen Nesphite, their full lenght: http://www.anentity.com/demilich/download.php
Free legit  download of Demilich discography band. These guys were awesome, amazing evil atmosphere. Lol for titles and voice.

We all have our roots in '80s and 90's metal, but after some so so music from the late 90's and 2000's, good metal is back. Three of the best new bands have to be Five Finger Death punch, A7X and Volbeat. There are many more, but these 3 rock.
