NOSTALGIA
The storm had finally subsided and the grass was now dry enough to alow us to rake up the leaves that were now littering our yard. Bill and I ,like many seventh graders in the area, were busy making the biggest pile of leaves that we could. "Bobby, lunch time" My mother had just what it would take to fill my belly and take the chill outta my bones.
MONTE CRISTO
Two slices of white bread
Swiss cheese (8 or so slices)
Black forest ham (1/4 lb)
Mayo (one teaspoon)
Mustard (one teaspoon)
Two eggs
Salt & pepper
Cooking oil
Mayo a slice of bread
Mustard the other slice
Four slices of swiss cheese on each slice of bread
Place ham between
Apply preasure to compact sanwich
Trim off crust
Wrap in cling wrap
Place in fridge while you make the soup
JACK UM UP SOUP
8 russet potatoes
16oz pepperjack cheese
Quart 1/2 & 1/2
One stick of butter
1/4 cup flour
Salt & pepper to taste
1/4 cup veg oil
Peel and roughly chop potatoes
Add potatoes to oil ( med high heat)
Brown untill golden
Salt & pepper to taste
Slice and add butter
Add flour
Add 1/2 & 1/2
Up heat to high (stir to form thickness like gravy)
Add cheese
Take off heat and stir
Serve with green onion slivers
Prep two eggs and a dash of milk
Add salt & pepper
Whip for dipping sanwich into
Pour oil into a pan and heat for shallow frying
Liberally dunk sanwich in the egg batter
Carefully add sanwich to the hot oil
Cook just untill golden brown
Remove to towel for draining
