Carolina Reaper (HP22B) Community Grow

A few members including myself are growing seeds for this variety ASAP. I and a few others here on THP thought it would be fun to have a "community glog" strictly for this variety, a fun thread about the HP22B and growing this pepper for the first time.

I think we should start a community glog like this anytime there is a new pepper with alot of attention and alot of people growing it, possible world record holder or not. It would be fun, and this should be fun! That's why we all love this hobby is it not?

Therefore, this will be a drama-free, controversy-free, fun glog for all of us growers and others to enjoy. If you grow, please chime in. If you're growing this variety, please post pictures and chime in about your observations.

Again.. This thread is ment to be fun and informative, but mostly fun :)
Please. Pretty please with sugar on top.. lol. Keep it drama-free.
I, and many others would really appreciate this thread to stay that way.

Now lets get to growing!

I went with the paper towel method for this guy just like I have with all my mid-season starts. It is far from my favorite way to germinate seeds but I'm in no hurry this time of year which is why I went this route. I've had the seeds in the paper towel for about a week now on top of my HOT5 lighting closet. The seeds should be showing root tips soon, then they will be visiting some real soil :D

How's it going for everyone else?

That's a good looking Reaper you got going Rodney. I was wondering if you were going to grow any. Cool of Tex to share with you. Can't wait to see the pods on it.

Looking good you guys.

These are my C. reapers.

I put 10 seeds in the ground on January 13th. Nine germinated and lost one to a stuck seed cap. Here are the remaining eight plants after 41 days.

So far for round 2.... in 9 days they are 8/14 .....much faster than last time, and under the same conditions...

Hi Guys, this is the one plant. Loads of pods and plenty more on the way. The Reaper is a good producer from what I can see... seems to be taking it's sweet time changing colour though :)

They are looking good. Looks like you have several that look like the ones advertised. Guess I'll give 'em a try next season....better get seeds 1st though...lol. Anyway great job and cont'd success.

Very nice looking plants! It's great to see their progress.

Number 5 stood up yesterday after 17 days, number 6 is hooking. These have come up faster than any other varieties I've sowed this year. I guess I started a little late as they won't be ready to hit the dirt in mid March when I usually transplant.

Best looking "homegrown" reapers yet.
Those are pretty cool looking pods. Getting closer.

Thanks Guys! The first pods that grew on the plants seemed to be true to the adverts... the new/latest pods are not as gnarly. Can't wait for some colour to kick in now!

Suhweet....I am a few months from Reaper or Primo pods I think. Blue...yours looks just like the Primos I grew out last season but Peri, yours is absolutely different...not as gnarly as advertised for sure. Can't wait to watch them change colors!

So excited , just hope it dont get grubbed out like my goat peppers , to seed or munch ? I'm thinking much but fark it looks good but if I pull seeds b4 munch ain't the same mmm so torn

Dude this bad boy just warming up :) :fire:

First round of sowing back in mid October, 6/12 popped, and So far 10/14 popped on round 2 sown on 2-14

Here's my biggest Reaper, It actually is starting to form flower buds.
Another one is almost as big, the other 4 from october sowing are smaller....The 10 seedlings look good
Also 4/5 Primos from ,Stupidjerk, have popped too, So I'll get to compare the two someday :)
