CMPMAN1974's 2011 Growing Log - Started 1/29/11

Well, I finally got motivated and dropped some seeds in my 162 count plug tray this afternoon. Filled up 100 of the spaces. It's always so hard to narrow anything down. I've got the seed tray on a heating mat calibrated to 86 degrees. Sowing so many individual varieties is always one huge chore. I kind of envy people like AJ planting 100 of the same variety.

I sowed a lot of C. chinenses, some wild bird types, and wild praetermissums and a few other wild species. There is nothing very common on this years' list. lol. :) Tons of strange super hot cross attempts from people. At least I've got a solid system now as far as spreadsheets and tracking.

I wish I had acres to grow all I want. I could really get carried away!

I'll start the Annuums and Baccatums in early March. I'm cutting way, way back on Rocotos. I struggled last year to get them to produce (well ripen) on time. I'm not a quitter by any means though. :)

I will be pretty much growing 100% in the ground this season. I don't feel like spending money on soil this year. I built three more 4' x 12' raised beds last Fall to add some growing space. I should be fine.

Insanely nice pics! Congratulations.
But I have a question: As you grow Prik Dae Luang under the category of C. baccatum( I probably know where you got them then, but for some reason I lost contact with that person quite a long time ago), do they come out as baccatums? As mine are rather a ftutescensxchinense cross and also the pictures from Thailand I saw are not baccatum but come out of the annuum/chinense/ frutescens clade....
And just love that variety...
I think I fell in love with the Biquinho Irecena...I do not want to be rude but are their any chances of a little trade?
Best Regards
Jan

i have fallen in love with the look of the Madballz Rusty 7 Pot. I thought the plant had no pods. It's been a terrible producer for me, but I'm going to try again next year. I found one lonely pod on the plant ripe!! I'm saving seeds and going for it again in 2012.

This Pimenta Chris 'Fat" Red has incredible amounts of capsaicin. I turned the pod over and smeared it on a plate and yellow liquid came out!! The Green Trinidad Scorpion is amazing looking. Very uniform pods. REALLY weird color ripe. I love the oddities.

The Pimenta Chris you have looks similar to a variety I'm growing that was supposed to be a Yellow 7 Pot, but turned out red and has a very unique tangy flavor.

Chris I've got lots of seeds for the Madballz, just say the word. It is a very cool color isn't it? Definitely a keeper.

I really like the looks of the Trinidad Scorpion Morouga Satan's Strain.

Done taking pics for some time! Wore myself out today. lol. BUT, the best for last, right? :) NOT a super hot by any means, but very unusual flavor. I like it, but can't describe it. The look of the pod alone lures me in.
