Douglah Cappy 2010

I am not the only one who had poppers tonight. But I cannot say they came from my garden though................

Those look fantastic! :D

Fark that looks good! I've got a question for you Cappy, about half of my Jalapenos on one plant were brown like yours, is this normal?

PRF! can i come live with you guys and serve you as a "domestic helper"? LOL. that just makes my tummy grumble like no other!

They are brown because they are half way through ripening from green to red. I prefer to pick my Jalapeňos at this stage because they are both sweet and hot at the same time. Thanks for the nice comment Chris, I am happy the way things have turned out so far this year, still have hurricane season and this extreme heat to contend with. Wife wants to go on vacation, and I want to stay home to water my plants.

I like your attitude.
I feel like I shouldn't go anywhere because I've got to stay and take care of my babies. Pepper plants are a commitment that I take very seriously.
You have some nice exotic varieties that need regular attention. I'm glad you're there for them.

PRF ....... Dang !! All your picture look so good, well the peppers I mean. Not only the basket of pods, but the growing plants , and the poppers ...mmmmmm

Those Jalapeňos look super. What kind are they ?

Peace,
P. Dreadie

Really !?!? They have those crackled ( ? ) lines in them . I haven't grown any peňos because I've wanted to concentrate on peppers I can't get at the store. But as everyone knows , sometimes the store has good ones and sometimes they don't.

Thanks & Peace,
P. Dreadie

That is called corking of the Jalapeňo and is a sign the pepper is ready to pick. Jalapeňos bought in a grocery store usually won't have any corking and will be dark green meaning they were picked way to early. Can't find many red Jalapeňos in a store.

Thank you sir ... and you're right I see very few red ones at stores in my area. Do they taste sweeter like a red bell pepper does ?

Peace,
P. Dreadie

Sorry for the picnic table/pizza box confusion Cappy.

Plants are growing at a good pace, nice and full too.

The poppers made me hungry and I just finished breakfast. I always enjoy visiting this thread. Thanks.

I guess you'll just have to grow some Jalapeňos and let them turn red ripe to find out. :P Of course they have a sweeter taste and not as hot, that is why I picked mine when they are mostly brown still have good heat. Makes me hungry for poppers again.

The package arrived today, Thank You Cappy! I plan on sowing a couple now, and saving the rest for sowing in early February. The ones I start now will be a over wintering project........with hopes of some late June/early July pods........ :mouthonfire:

Don't really know what happened last night but go out this morning and several of my pepper plants are flattened like corn. It looks like my dog chased a bird or snake right down the middle of my hedge, prop everything back up. Dog was just being a dog chasing anything that comes in to the backyard, just to bad the critter took refuge in my plants. Anyway here is a small harvest I picked to make myself feel better. :tear:

Sorry to hear about the plants PRF. Hope they are ok. You're right...can't get mad at a dog for being a dog ;) Nice harvest you got there. Congrats

Great thread. Hope the plants come back strong!

Nice Pizza box full Cappy. I hope no permanent damage was done.

Some of my okra was flattened this AM too and it takes a pretty strong wind to do that to okra, but my peppers weren't affected, so it appears my idea of an okra windbreak actually worked once.
