Some random pics

One of my Pink Tiger x CBBG7 pheno's - not a huge calyx but I think it will be a bleeder.

I always love to experiment so this year I cut off all of my flowers and pods on most plants when I transplanted outdoors. You can clearly see the difference in growth. Plant on the left had all flowers and pods removed, plant on right did not. I will get a later harvest but I think it will be much bigger.

I removed all flowers and pods from plants in pots also. Hard to tell how big this HR X MP plant is but there is a 10gal pot under there somewhere

And here is one of my HR x CBBG7 pheno's, this plant is over 5ft wide from tip to tip of canopy

Mini yellow BBG7 with early bleeding calyx. At least I know that one plant is yellow as i've been using it for pollen a lot.

What a superb grow you have. Loving all the crosses. I like the flowers and no flowers experiment. I didn't pull flowers this year. Usually Mother Nature dies it for me. Next year I'm starting in January. Will leave flowers on and try and get two harvests. Will be challenging in Colorado.

What is HR x MP stand for? Love the plant formation.

Nice update. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you sir.  HR x MP is my Hot Rod Serrano X Maui Purple. So far it seems to be a good producer with the taste of a serrano only a lot hotter. I'm going to continue to grow it out and hopefully get some purple plants in the following generations.

I noticed your question about the scotch brain on another thread. PIC1 is the creator of the scotch brain. I'm growing it this year both F3 and F4, the F4 is a beautiful plant, I'll snap a few pics when I get a chance.

Awesome pods, great looking crosses.  Really like the looks of that pink tiger x cbbg7.  I'll have to get some pointers from you on crossing sometime, seems like all my attempts result in a dropped blossom.  Figure I am not getting the pollen I think I am, or pulling apart the mother flower too soon, or bad timing or something.

I can tell you what has worked well for me. If I am home I go out and collect pollen twice a day if the weather is nice and sunny. Around 10am then around noon. I collect pollen from the same plant both times. I like to visually see a good amount of pollen in my collection tube. Pic below you can see some nice Orange BBG pollen I just collected. early evening when the sun is not as intense I will look for flowers that are just about ready to open, after removing the petals and stamens gently I will stick the flower into the pollen tube so that I can visually see pollen on the end of the stigma. I like to cover the flower after with either hop sock or a empty large pill capsule until set. Hope this helps, breeding your own peppers is really fun. I think next year I will only be growing out my crosses and maybe a few from friends.

I was thinking the HR was for the hot rod. Thanks for the varification.

That's crazy you said Greg was the originator of the Scotch x Brain. I just posted today, wondering if anyone has heard from Greg.

Thanks again.
I miss all his awesome food and pepper pics.  He sent me some seeds a few months back, last time i've seen him on I think.

Thanks for the tips, will have to give some more effort after this heat wave passes, next week looks a lot nicer.

Interesting method to hand pollination... how do you get the pollen into the tube? I'll be starting some hand pollination this weekend to try to get some clean seed from my Heirloom Gochus, but I'll be using the paintbrush method. Thanks for the tip of starting at 10 am instead of noon as noted in the gardening websites... it's been such a hot, dry summer that I think the flowers might be maturing a little quicker to beat the mid-day heat.  Cheers!

Hi Rick I stick the flower in the tube or over the opening and flick the flower with my finger or a q-tip. Hope this help.  We had a crazy lightning storm here last night, with about 4in of rain, luckily no hail. Was glad to get the rain that's for sure.
