For me lemon zest pushes it over the top of being meh....and I actually like the bite of raw garlic.

I quit, I couldn't make hummus remotely as tasty as I could buy ...

But, being able to whip up a hummus out of the pantry or freezer is handy in terms of protein when you're out of fresh ...

I  haven't used zest, either ... my hummus experiments were before I really got interested in cooking mo'betta ...

I'll get you the recipe the wife uses but I had her add zest and that was the game changer. It is always a big hit when we have people over.

i never really measure anymore, just a can of chickpeas, olive oil, salt, I do use raw garlic, lemon juice, i like to put the smoked pepper powders in, and tahini.  maybe some water to help it blend smoother. I play with the seasonings sometimes, add in a roasted pepper instead of smoked powder, or some cumin.

Sometimes if I'm hungry and want a quick snack, I'll put whole chickpeas in a bowl and add the OO, lemon juice, tahini and sprinkle garlic salt and pepper powder over them... I usually add some cucumbers and/or tomatoes if I have them, and homemade pickled turnips too.

I had some aging tortilla the other day, and I hit them w/ a tiny amount of 15x pepper and evoo, and baked them a little, and those "chips" + hummus would be handy ...

Danielle will eat something like that using refried beans, but I'd rather hummus in that scenario ...

Hmmm ... good stuff.

hummus and sprouted salad greens from the EasySprouter/EasyGreen is good ...

I like it, I mean I plainly like it - no discount for being healthy ...

Pretty much the same here...try some lemon zest next time and let me know what you think.

here's what I whipped up after a few tequila drinks last night...

arepas with boricua cheese, roasted poblano pepper, chopped up chipotle vegan sausage, and roasted garlic, pan fried in butter, topped with the homemade chile de arbol sauce from the other night. I burned my hand but it was worth it

this afternoon for lunch a made a quick eggsalad sandwich  on sour dough with avocado and kidney beans in the mix.  spiced up with smoked powder from Pex, I have no idea what kinda peppers are in the powder he gave me but its a really pretty dark red color.

Did you just autoeggbomb? =)

PS - I have that arepa-making powder in the pantry, I still need to try that one of these days ...
I don't consider egg to be meat, some people may, and they are allowed to.

Arepas are real easy, just 1:1 water and masarepa and then you add in whatever you'd like to the dough (cheese, garlic, peppers, pieces of butter, one time i added bacon...)

What is this chipotle vegan sausage you speak of?

Sounds like something I could be ridiculed incessantly for if I were posting on THP.

Was it damn good?

Thats what I want to know.

Screw the anti-veg Hitler youth.

it was pretty good, not the same as a real sausage but decent flavors.  A good amount of heat for a store bought item.  Here's the link to their site: http://fieldroast.com/product/field-roast-sausages/
The only drawback on them for me is the price.  I ended up buying them as plans changed last minute on the 4th and had to get them at the 24 hr already-over-priced-let's-not-even-get-into-the-upcharge-on-vegan/vegetarian-items.  They ended up being like $7.50 for a 4 of them and I could probably make them at home, they just wouldn't look as perfectly shaped.  If I found them for cheaper I'd consider keeping them around for a quick dinner addition or something but not for what I paid for them this weekend.

grant-  try it without tahini, just a basic version with , chickpeas, good olive oil , garlic , lemon {Juice and zest} ,  salt and pepper.   I find it is the quality of the oil that makes it , with the lemon bringing some brightness.

Why its Soyrizo of course!  And you know.  You know...  You can't hide from me Norton.  Not even in here.

I like Trader Joe's soyrizo... I like that its not a greasy as regular soyrizo, and I think it tastes amazing... especially in a grilled cheese.

So there's that.

There's local sausage/beer places here that have those exact same flavors so you know it's that brand lol. They make their own stuff but not the veggie.

I've had the chipotle and apple sage. Shhhhhh.

How was the apple sage?  I'm always afraid of the sweetness in most apple savory foods, but I had a green apple soup that makes me want to try more.

Not sweet as I remember. I usually add hot peppers and sauteed onions, or hot peppers and kraut, and then add dijon, so it's hard to tell really. But I don't remember sweet. If anything it's a good complement to the spicy and the sour (kraut).
