Abstract
Three new species of Capsicum from eastern coastal Brazil are described and illustrated.Capsicum pereirae from Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais is related to C. flexuosum andC. schottianumCapsicum friburgense, endemic to a restricted area in Nova Friburgo (Rio de Janeiro state) is similar to C. scolnikianumC. cardenasii, and C. mirabile.Capsicum hunzikerianum from São Paulo is closely allied to C. cornutum. A key to differentiate the wild Capsicum species from Brazil is provided.

Nigel, I highly doubt anyone is growing these here.  They are super rare.  I've tried for many, many years to find some of these (along with other friends).  They are rare even to natives and risks of transporting seeds out are high. :(  Hopefully someday, many wild pepper lovers will get the chance to enjoy them.

Thanks Chris. I thought as much, but it`s always worth asking. I might write to the authors of the description and see what they say.

If anyone wants the paper above, please PM me with your email address. I have the .pdf file. I also have the one below.

New Endemic Species of Capsicum (Solanaceae) from the Brazilian Caatinga: Comparison with the Re-Circumscribed C. parvifolium
Author(s): Gloria E. Barboza, María F. Agra, María V. Romero, Marisel A. Scaldaferro, and Eduardo A. Moscone Source: Systematic Botany, 36(3):768-781. 2011.

I`ve grown tepin wilds from Texas and Mexico before, but this year I have C.chinense "wild brazil" to try. I could get seriously addicted to these types of wild peppers!

I received seeds of a chacoense variety called "most prolific". I've never grown wild ones, are there differences in cultivation from domestic ones I should know about?

May be next years grow...probably have a few nore laying around that are Chinense , Baccatum etc.

Thanks Noah...will do when the time comes...Blue Mystery flower, no pods yet but im still waiting on em to develop...
bacc var praet of some sort. The green/yellow streaks on the petals have a split in them. If it grows a stem as big as a 50 cent piece then it is praetermissum. eximium/cardenasii complex grow thin and gangly. Doesn't look as hairy as most praet. Could be PI441654.

I grew the wild Blue Mystery last year. What a beast! 5 feet tall 6 feet wide. The stem was indeed the diameter of a 50 cent piece. Mystery solved?

In all seriousness, would anyone like to send me any seeds of some wilds? I've never grown any wilds but have gotten very interested in them over the last couple of weeks. I have alot of super hot seeds if you want to trade.

Thanks
Vincent

I'm just catching up on this thread. Vince, if you'd like some wild varieties, just let me know and I'll send you some.

Thanks Dan, I would definitely like to attempt to grow a few. I've never grown any wilds and have gotten very interested in them, so if you have a couple you wouldn't mind parting with I'd happily take them.
