    ¿Those little hats?

I've decapitated more seedlings than i've helped, trying to remove it. And they usually come off on their own. I usually leave it till it looks like it's working its way off, then have a bit of a go at it. DO NOT PULL. Instead i find squeezing it along it's long axis works well as it opens it...

    What came first?

All i know is using fish fertilizer on my grow-tent chillis, in my loungeroom, without a carbon air filter, was a BAD IDEA. :D

    seeds seedling stem strength?

Strong light and an oscillating fan running on a timer, 15mins every 2hrs did the trick for me. Also when transplanting, plant them a little deeper in the soil so that some more of the stem is burried. When i took my seedlings outside i did however use a skewer and some wire to give them a...

    Pot Sizes?

Can any Aussies clarify just how big a 5 gallon pot really is, in metric? Eg 30cm/40cm/50cm??!?? This has confused me greatly for a long time :( . As a rough estimate i would think a 35cm deep/30cm diameter pot would be about the right size? Pots are so goddamn expensive in Australia. If i...

    Avatar (the film)

Saw it in 3d, was great. Very cool art style. Had some cliched story elements and characters, otherwise top notch. Lived up to the hype! The 3d bizzo took some getting used to and is slightly irritating (you want to focus on things but cant, its a strange feeling) but not overused in this...

water Is it REALLY better to let our plants wilt before watering?

Hi all. It seems to be 'growing lore' around here that it's better to let our chillis wilt a little before watering. I was wondering what is the reasoning behind this. Does it really give the best results? Or is it simply a no-fail way of avoiding overwatering? I am concerned that i'm hurting...

    seeds Heat/Germination box

Bit of a suggestion, if you turned the box on its side you would be able to fit more stuff in. As it is it's quite tall, you will need to lower the light and end up wasting space. Not sure how feasible that is but is a thought :P

    SanSoo's Grow Log - 2010

Looking good. How do you water your jiffies? I am using some for the first time (previously used seedling tray with seed raising mix) and not sure if a couple of sprays with a spray bottle daily is enough. I have them covered in a mini greenhouse but it does allow some humidity to escape.
