i've heard some ppl heat their spent soil in the oven in large trays and then mix it with compost and manure and perlite/vermiculite to create soil for next year - bit of a long process if it's a lot of soil but basically cooking it kills everything that could cause harm... seem to make sense in...
some nice photos again
I'm still waiting for my Costa Rican habaneros to go red to try them for the first time... they've been really really slow for some reason. Orange habaneros still have some green pods on them but they've already produced quite a bit....
I've heard the opposite OrganicChiles... As the magnesium is needed in the leaves it takes longer for the nutrient to be absorbed by the roots and travel to where it's needed especially if the plant is looking a bit sick. The leaves only absorb very little but it does the trick and it's faster...
hmmm similar problems with 2 out of 18 plants so I think I'll just have to repot - something about the soil is just not right even through I've started with the same mix - maybe too wet or too dry for a long time caused problems or too much feeding - either way it could be a bit late for those...
looks like I've started a bit late from what you guys are chatting about :( I'm in Sydney and right now it's crazy 14 degree Celcius morning (so weather hasnt been excellent) but my Cost Rican Habaneros and Orange Habaneros are about 6 weeks away from setting fruit. Aji Limons maybe a bit...
very nice :) I've been able to watch it from Sydney Australia but only while running "Hotspot Shield" which tricks the browser into thinking I'm in USA. Without it simple came back with a content unavailable message
loving your photos - very nice - the BT Scorpion looks excellent
quick question - my plants have slowed down considerably in growth and only 3/18 have flowers on them yet (overwindered stuff is producing already though but these plants are not in the same position)
they're definetely happy in...
Many thanks for this but I should have asked sooner - after spending a few minutes operating with surgical precision I was able to take the helmet off by cutting the outer edges of the seed. I then removed it with tweezers. Unfortunately the inside of the helmet was brown (rotting I assume) and...
that orange hab looks great - I got one too on a overwintered plant but the much colder Sydney weather seems to have stunted its growth. It's grown slowly and fully organge now en though it's only a third of the normal size I got last year. On the other hand last summer I was getting 25C to 35C...
quick update for the last 30 days or so :onfire:
On 3rd attempt with Fatali and I've had no luck with zip lock bag method, jiffy peat pot or plastic pot with seed raising mix :( will give fatalis a go next year but I've run out of seeds again (2 lots of 10 seeds without success)
There's...
wish I was reading this thread at the start of september - would have saved me from making a few mistakes...
also can you clarify the germination - you said DON'T plant the germinated seeds until 3 or 4 days after they sprout leaves to give them the best possible chance
I've tried some ziplock...
wow 3 weeks have nearly passed - I've given up on the first batch of fatali and orange habs and having a second go now after getting more seeds (it's been about 8 days since planting - leaving the pots outside in a semi protected spot but wont bother bringing these in at night if it's too cold -...
even with older cameras check to see if it has a macro mode - it will really help with those sort of up close photos
the symbol for that looks a little something like this
Cayenne and Thai Bird's eye for sure - they germinated for me quickly this year and last year they got 1 application of seaweed - no other fertiliser and still produced the whole year. I hardly even watered them except if they started to wilt a little in the middle of the draught here in...
thanks for the offer timmy
i'll give it 3 more weeks with the fatalii and if still no luck I'll beg for some of your seedlings :)
I've separated the pots that have sprouted vs the ones that havent. I'll leave the seedlings outside since it's not that cold but the seeds that need more warmth...
