  • Have to love it when the first thing I see when moving into our new house is a praying mantis making an egg case. Already have pepper protectors around and I don't even have my plants here yet!

Thanks hogleg! Was extremely happy to see it, as I've noticed a lot of grasshoppers around too. Hopefully the babies can grow up quickly.

Sounds like you're moving into a good "ecohood"! My wife and I moved into the middle of a turf war among squash vine borers, flea beetles, slugs and squash bugs.
We can finally move into our house! Looks like I know what I'll be doing all weekend now.

Thanks all. I'm beyond excited! It feels great to finally have our own place. Got a lot of work to do on the yard, but at least we have nothing to worry about with the house.
Hmmm. Which superhot to eat as a house warming present when we move? I'll have red and yellow bhuts, chocolate scorpions, red nagabrains, yellow 7 pots, not red brain strain and not kraken scorpion ripe and ready to go.

Nothing says 'Welcome Home' like a yellow 7 cut in half and stirred into a red-beer. (both halves)
One step closer to moving into our own house. Power was connected today. AC, steps and driveway to be done next week, then just a final inspection then we can move in!

Thanks both! Queequeg, it's a brand new manufactured home, so what we've already paid for is what we get. Can't afford anything extra atm unfortunately.

prefab homes are the shit, dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
they will even park them on slabs nowadays if you have the extra cash.

    they are excellent first homes.
Wow. For the first time ever I found fresh naga's for sale at a grocery store. Nice surprise.

Rymerpt-thats where I'll be working once the store opens at the end of the month. Lucky I've got a freezer full of peppers otherwise I know where my pay would be going lol.

Found them at my local Rouses GTH.
It's already raining here, and the local weather prediction has up to 10 inches of rain predicted for tomorrow. Looks like Saturday will be one lazy arse day spent inside.

Local flooding is predicted. All nearby parishes here are giving out sandbags if needed. Luckily we're safe from any flooding.

Trying to decide which to grow next year. Yellow bhut or fatalii? Need to make a decision on one. Already have 2 yellow 7 pot plants I'll be ow'ing, so looking for one more yellow variety to grow for sauce/powder use.

    MeatHead1313
I've got both yellow bhuts and fatalii's this year. Extremely happy with both. That's what's making it hard to choose one over the other.

Haha. After going crazy at the start of this season, I'm really trying to cut back a little for next season. That said, no doubt I won't be able to decide and will end up growing both again. Can always give away extra pods once I harvest enough for personal use.
Dafuq? I know it's still just the pre season, but did the Raiders really just beat the Seahawks?

Worst part about leaving my old job? Gator seasons coming up, and we always had a customer bring in several gators to process and tell us we could take what we want. I'm going to miss free fresh gator tail as well as fresh and smoked gator sausage.
Wild hog and smoked sausage jambalaya. It's what's for dinner!

Wild hog has a much different flavor. I don't really care for the meat. Soaking in milk doesn't even take much of the wild out of it.

    MeatHead1313
Yeah it's weird. Chops and back strap I cut off the same hog were great, not gamey at all. Buy the bits and pieces I cut up for stew meat were strong as hell. Oh well, the hog was free so can't complain. Whenever I get off my arse and do my hunters ed course and start hunting, back strap and tenderloin will be kept for cooking, the rest will go in 50/50 with some Boston butt for sausage.

Trying to figure out my grow list for next season. Already have a couple OW's worked out, and know for sure there will be more sweet and mild varieties planted for my wife. Now to work out the hots and supers, without going crazy. So many varieties I want to grow, but pretty sure the better half won't like me taking up the whole yard.

At the moment, several types of jalapeno, black hungarian, sweet banana, trinidad perfume, sweet apple pepper, brazilian starfish, bishops crown, Aleppo and urfa biber.

I'm thinking the same. Milds and sweets only for next year. Maybe one super. Mostly tabasco plants, since the one I have is doing so well.

Interesting... I think just said she'll have some Aleppo seeds before next season. Looks like my list for her is even longer now!
Gotta love Louisiana weather. 0% chance of rain predicted, so naturally it's raining. At least now I don't have to water my plants today!

Not really. I ain't planning on swimmin' with 'em. Just boat riding, maybe a little fishin'

I can definitely see me getting a ride on mower soon. Using a push mower in this heat and humidity is no fun at all.

Slowly working my grow list out for next season. Got seeds for a few new varieties ordered through PepperLover and refining fire to go with seeds I've already got on hand. Now to just decide if I want to add anything else.
